★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing to be able to walk so freely around roman ruins and the cistern is impressive.. but I would not go out of your way to visit. Good to look around if you are in the area.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Aptera was one of the most significant city-states of Crete. The archaeological site is situated on a plateau of an altitude of 200m above Souda Bay, about 15 km away from the city of Chania on the road towards Rethymnon.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Roman ruins surrounded by wild flowers, quiet and peaceful in April! The ruins are interesting and you have a small leaflet with signage around the area which is useful!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Well worth a visit. Lots more here than I expected. Great views. Lots of information on all parts of the site. Amazing views as well. Good hour or so to spend here and fun for kids to explore. Top tip - pick a day with a bit of cloud cover as it's wide open and hot as hell.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Magnificent excavations, a good historical monument. In general, a very calm and quiet place, if you arrive early in the morning, then the people will be quite a bit. You can spend here about 2 hours, while visiting all the sights in the area.
It is better to get acquainted with the hours of work of the historical landmark (we had work until 15:00).

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great attraction. Only 2 Euro entrance fee, kids free. Decent road up to car park. Nice collection of assorted roman ruins and a really decent amphitheatre. Stunning views of mountains and the sea. A number of decent information boards with english. Little museum with a interesting video about the site
