The museum is quite extensive and has modern exhibits. Reserve at least two hours if you’re a fan of archaeology.

*COVID UPDATE* You must show a vaccination approval with a valid ID A must in Thessaloniki!! Outstanding exhibitions. There isplenty of staff to see from many time areas. It took us 3-4 hours and we skipped some because some things repeated themselves

Interesting museum. What I found it lacking is seats in the exhibition areas so you can sit down read and have a moment of calmness and being interactive.

Very nice & surprisingly large collection. When you first walk in, it doesn’t seem to be that big of a building, but the rooms are deep and contain a lot of really nice items. When you walk in, there is a temp check before you can buy a ticket. Make sure you use your forehead for the temp (and not your wrist like all of the other places) or they will yell and make you come back. No biggie. My favorite portion of the museum is the downstairs bit that has the pictures and drawing of Thessaloniki from antiquity. Some of them are room-size and very detailed so it’s easy to see and understand.

After visiting Athens' museums with classical period artifacts you can get a totally different story from the Byzantine collections here. This museum is smaller than the one in Athens, but I think it presents its subject much better. Displays are more carefully constructed to tell their story. I enjoyed visiting and learned a lot.

Love it. If you like history then you must visit this museum. It's very interesting. I am impresed when I see old stuff and I think how old is and some pleople used that 2000 years ago. Also, very impresive how the sculptures are so detailed.

One of the most incredible collections of artifacts from the Times of Alexander the Great and his father Philip. Worth the trip. Very nicely displayed and well set-up.
