★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Another beautiful traditional small village of Pilio Mountain. The nature is great, there is a small cafe with picturesque scenery of the area and pretty nice for a coffee and relax. There is also an old train station (The old train of Pilio) which is still operating.

The train line is very impressive with all the supporting walls and bridges.
Don't expect to see a steam train though. Since 2011 "Moutzouris" is operated with a Diesel, badly disguised as a steam engine. They basically just stuck a chimney and some domes to the locomotive. I assume they want to keep the tourists happy that way.
So one star less for the "maimou" as the Greeks say.
Anyway, the infrastructure alone is very impressive for such a narrow gauge train, with De Chirico's steel bridge about 2 km before Milies station definitely being the highlight.
Since train operation is restricted to one train in each direction on Saturday and on Sunday you can have a nice trip walking on the tracks or even have a go with a mountain bike. It's quite relaxed. Since the train is running here, there are no real inclines to be mastered.
