Amazing place to visit during observation days at summer. A research center of important history and excellence.

That was a great experience. Make sure you reserve a visit here. You can stare at the stars through the telescope and many other planets as well.

An interesting experience and a nice view of night sky. Newall telescope's observation capabilities not on par to its size.

I think that everyone with astronomical, pragmatological, theological etc curiosity should visit the observatory. I've spent two evenings there and will surely go back again. The talkers may even indulge in a little philosophy of you're lucky. All in all a lovely experience. My dislikes are: The data own to the public are very few. The discussion's objective is to make an introduction to the uninitiated and won't stray from it. The telescope you see in the pictures on noa.gr is actually decommissioned, they are using a much smaller one (thank the non existed funding for that). I'd love to see the telescope being let (on loan of course and with professional crew praying it) to individuals for a few nights every month...

We saw up close, the craters on the moon? , it felt so close I was actually looking for little people jumping up and down. :) ... and Saturn... That was unexpected... I had never thought I would be looking at it... We were told the time it took for the light of the image to reach us, was counted in seconds... That's how far earth ? is... An amazing experience..

The Visitor Center in Thissio is located on the Hill of the Nymphs and it is housed in the Sina building It organises special events of night sky observations. The Visitor Center is accessible by Metro (line 1 station Thissio, or line 3 station Monastiraki) followed by a 10-minute walk up the hill. The entrance to the Center is from 'Pnikos' or 'Otrineon' Streets. If you like astrophysics or you are genuinely interested in stars and all, please visit this place!! I loved it so much.

I went this past Saturday to have the tour through the stars. This time we were to see Jupiter. It was a wonderful experience! If you exclude the much waiting between the lecture (which was great and lots of fun to follow), the small movie and finally the seeing through the telescope, it is a nice summer program. They count with one of the oldest working telescopes in the world and it is really a stunning machine. There's a second smaller but more modern telescope that you can also see through if you wish. There's a small cantina where you cam have something to drink or eat during tour waiting.
