Maps of ancient Mycenae, on which are marked ancient ruins, excavated or still visible: tombs, walls, streets, buildings. The precursor of this great work was «Karten von Mykenai», published in Berlin by Bernard Steffen and Habbo Gerhard Lolling (1888-1894): «Karten von Mykenai» contained only two maps, one of the citadel (scale 1:750) and one of the wider region of Mycenae (scale 1:12500). The new mapping is divided into two parts: the first contains the region of Mycenae in 12 sheets (scale 1:5000) and the other one smaller maps, which contain areas with high density of ancient relics. The second part contains the citadel of Mycenae in a single sheet on a scale 1:1000. This sheet is analyzed to other sheets which contain parts of the general, on a scale 1:400. The Atlas maps are accompanied by an extensive memorandum, which consists of systematic studies on the topography and monuments of Mycenae (by Spyros Iakovides, Elizabeth French, Kim Shelton, J. Lavery, Ch. Ioannides and A. Jansen). These papers include a chronicle of old Mycenae descriptions by travelers, special bibliography and chronological tables. The citadel is also described as a whole, as well as the excavated area, the geology of Mycenae, the ancient system of roads in the area, the houses, the chambered tombs. The rich general bibliography completes the Atlas.
