Zavia Beach - Zavia Beach

Two beaches, second one is a bit intime. Free shower ! Cold water is here and salty, not good for snorking.

Very nice place and nice people at the snack bar ?. We anchored with a boot in the bay and came to eat and drink.

We're staying at the Hotel Mortemeno and this is our closest beach. It's a beautiful little beach which you reach from a winding road, 2 mins walk from the main road. The water is chilly next to the beach but warmer halfway out. Snorkelling is ok but there are better places nearby. We arrive quite early at beaches as our daughter wakes at 6ish! We arrived at 8ish and were greeted by friendly elderly Greeks taking a daily dip...probably to avoid the tourists and have their place to themselves. Arriving this early guarantees a pair of sunbed and loungers for 6 euros for the day. Not a bad price we thought, and essential if it's 37degC! The beachside taverna is basic, selling pre-made Greek salads in transparent plastic bowls with plastic cutlery. The meat is freshly grilled and was good. We've been to Syvota before and hired a boat from the rental guy on Zavia. The boats are in need of some maintenance but operate ok. I'm used to 2-stroke dingy engines and these certainly have a need for updating/replacement (a couple are ok). We hired for 4 hours for €30 (+ fuel) which is quite expensive but worth it....the problem with the '+ fuel' is that when we returned he 'measured' the amount used and charged us an extra €20 and fuel is cheap here, plus we spent most of our time moored up snorkelling! Perhaps if the engines were newer/maintained, the fuel efficiency would be better! We didn't need to use the portaloo toilet but allegedly it was transformed into a long drop loo where the tank has been removed and a hole dug to contain waste! Gotta love the Greek ingenuity and thriftiness. Overall, I'd say it's worth a day here, just arrive early?

The beach itself is small and clean and is mostly sand and small stones. There are nearly no rocks in the water hence the clear water. 2x Frappe plus 2x Water made 6€ which is definitely ok. I give only 4 stars because the beach chairs seem very old and uncomfortable. But they we're cleaned (corona). Information: No toilet around!!

I have never met worst people in my life. They threaten us that they will destroy our tyres because we went with a big car and took alot of car space. These people care only for money. Dont go there. This is not Greek hospitality. Too expensive and rood. Find better places in Greece

I really enjoyed, very relaxing. The wind can't get you there because it's like a pool. Also family friendly with fine sand so kids can play. The canteen has everything, coffees, drinks, food. We had a fruit salad ?. Lots of parking under the trees. Only downside it's a bit small so it can get crowdy quite fast.

Very nice small, sandy beach. Not too much people and a lot of natutal shade. Water is very clean but a little but colder then most of the other beaches. One of my favorites in the area. There is big free parking and a nice small bar on beach. Prices are ad usual.

In the first half of the Zavia bay the water was very cold and visibility no more than 3 meters. I do not know if there were strange cold currents or some underwater cold springs because the cold water was mostly near the coastline. When you were entering in this very cold water zone the visibility was dropping to 1-1.5 meters. We snorkel 3 rounds for about 3 hours on Zavia Bay on both sides of the bay. The underwater landscape is better on the right side. If the water clarity is above 10 meters Zavia Bay could be OK for snorkeling. You have to swim out of the bay to have greater underwater visibility of 5 to 8 meters and the water to be warmer. On my snorkeling marking scale the score for Zavia Beach is 3 from a maximum of 5 points.
