2nd General Lyceum of Athens, or "2nd Lyceum of Theodoros Angelopoulos", as the Municipality of Athens named the school, paying tribute to the great director who was a student of the school.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ο Δήμος Αθηναίων τονίζει ότι κατά πληροφορίες του η πρόθεση του ΟΣΚ το 1974 ήταν να κατεδαφίσει αμφότερα τα κτίρια προκειμένου να ανεγείρει νέο σχολικό κτίριο στα οικόπεδά τους ... τα κτίρια παρέμειναν κενά και εγκαταλελειμμένα από το 1975 ως το 1990 ... Σύμφωνα με αφηγήσεις του συλλόγου αποφοίτων του πρώην Β' Γυμνασίου Αρρένων, στο κτίριο της Χέυδεν έδωσαν το όνομα «Βίλα Αμαλία» αντιεξουσιαστές οι οποίοι έφτασαν εκεί έχοντας εκδιωχθεί από άλλο εγκαταλελειμμένο κτίριο στη λεωφόρο Αμαλίας.
Οι καταλήψεις αυτές τερματίστηκαν με επέμβαση της Αστυνομίας τον Ιανουάριο του 2013.

The Municipality of Athens stresses that according to its information, the intention of the UCK in 1974 was to demolish both buildings in order to erect a new school building on their plots ... the buildings remained vacant and abandoned from 1975 until 1990 ... of the alumni association of the former 2nd High School for Boys, in the building of Heiden gave the name "Villa Amalia" anti-authoritarians who arrived there having been expelled from another abandoned building on Amalias Avenue.
These occupations ended with the intervention of the Police in January 2013.

Εκεί στεγαζόταν το 2ο Γυμνάσιο Αρρένων Αθηνών (μέχρι τη δεκαετία του '70), που είχε τη φήμη ενός πολύ αυστηρού αλλά "καλού" δημοσίου σχολείου, από το οποίο πέρασαν χιλιάδες μαθητές κι άφησε εποχή... Εκεί φοίτησαν (μεταξύ των άλλων) και ο σκηνοθέτης Θόδωρος Αγγελόπουλος, ο στιχουργός Λευτέρης Παπαδόπουλος, ο ζωγράφος Αλέκος Φασιανός, ο Αρχιεπίσκοπος Αλβανίας Αναστάσιος, ο συγγραφέας και καθηγητής φιλοσοφίας Χρήστος Γιανναράς και πολλοί άλλοι. Μελανό σημείο στην ιστορία του κτιρίου ήταν η κατάληψη του για αρκετά χρόνια, από οργανωμένες συμμορίες μπαχαλάκιδων και αναρχοφασιστών, η οποία ευτυχώς έληξε το 2013, κατόπιν οργανωμένης επιχείρησης των ειδικών δυνάμεων της Αστυνομίας.
A building with a long history. It housed the 2nd High School for Boys in Athens (until the 70's), which had the reputation of a very strict but "good" public school, through which thousands of students passed and left a season ... There they studied (among others) and the director Thodoros Angelopoulos, the lyricist Lefteris Papadopoulos, the painter Alekos Fasianos, the Archbishop of Albania Anastasios, the writer and professor of philosophy Christos Giannaras and many others. A dark spot in the history of the building was its occupation for several years by organized gangs of thugs and anarcho-fascists, which fortunately ended in 2013, following an organized operation by the special forces of the Police.
