Βιογραφικά στοιχεία Γεννήθηκε στην Αθήνα το 1843 και είχε ρίζες από την Κρήτη. Σπούδασε από το 1859 μέχρι το 1864 γλυπτική στη Σχολή Καλών Τεχνών υπό τον Γεώργιο Φυτάλη[2] και παράλληλα έλαβε μαθήματα μαρμαροτεχνίας στο εργαστήριο του γνωστού καθηγητή και γλύπτη Ιωάννη Κόσσου.[2][3][4] To 1866, μετέβη στη Ρώμη με υποτροφία της βασίλισσας Όλγας, όπου και παρέμεινε για μια τριετία, σπουδάζοντας υπό την επίβλεψη των Κανόβα Άνταμο Ταντολίνι και Φίλιπο Νιακαρίνι.[3] Κατά τη διάρκεια της παραμονής του στην Ιταλία, εργάστηκε για λογαριασμό Ιταλού τραπεζίτη. Με την επιστροφή του στην Ελλάδα το 1873, άνοιξε δικό του εργαστήριο γλυπτικής στην Πλάκα και το 1883 διορίστηκε καθηγητής πλαστικής στη Σχολή Καλών Τεχνών, ως διάδοχος του Λεωνίδα Δρόση που είχε μόλις πεθάνει. Αυτή τη θέση, ο Βρούτος την διατήρησε μέχρι το θάνατό του. Το 1888 ανακηρύχτηκε μέλος της Ακαδημίας Καλών Τεχνών του Παρισιού.[3] Παράλληλα, υπήρξε ένα από τα ιδρυτικά μέλη της Ιστορικής και Εθνολογικής Εταιρείας της Ελλάδος.[5] Απεβίωσε στην Αθήνα, στις 10 Ιανουαρίου του 1909.[2] . Upon his return to Greece in 1873, he opened his own sculpture workshop in Plaka and in 1883 he was appointed professor of plastics at the School of Fine Arts, the successor of Leonidas Drossi who had just died. Brutus maintained this position until his death. In 1888 he was declared a member of the Paris Academy of Fine Arts. Ο άλλοτε ζωηρός φτερωτός θεός πλέον αντιπροσωπεύει την ερωτική απογοήτευση και τη ματαιότητα και σπάει το ίδιο του το τόξο. Στις αρχές του 1900 ήταν το σημείο συνάντησης των ερωτευμένων, των παράνομων ζευγαριών και όσων είχαν υποφέρει από αυτόν. Σήμερα, φωτογραφίζονται μπροστά του όλοι οι τουρίστες που διασχίζουν το πάρκο. The most ... scandalous statue in a park in Athens is probably that of Eros who breaks his bow, in Zappeion. Les ailes étant fragiles, on a opportunément entouré la statue de buissons épais, afin de la protéger contre les "tom was here" et autres "artistes" de "street art" désireux de s'"exprimer". A very pretty statue of Eros breaking its bow. The pose and facial expression are very successful. The wings being fragile, we conveniently surrounded the statue with thick bushes, in order to protect it against "tom was here" and other "street art" artists wishing to "express themselves".
