★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Driving south we were passing this little church as some type of service was just ending. A large group of elderly men and women were present close to the road. One man held something in his hands and seemingly offered it to us as we slowly passed. I stopped and backed up thinking he and his wife might need a lift in our direction. He approached the window and greeted us and gave us pieces of cake while explaining the purpose of the gift which we could not understand. I offered the ride but he and his wife shook their head and kindly refused. Can anyone explain this custom or might it be just giving cake to a stranger? Given their age I'm fairly certain it wasn't wedding cake!
It was a really nice gesture and made our day.
