 It is the landmark of the traditional confectionery of the city, and part of the prefecture of Serres.
Anyone visiting the city should try and buy this wonderful Turkish delight made from goat's milk.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ο καλύτερος ακανες που υπάρχει. Έφαγα πρώτη φορά πριν 9 χρόνια που επισκέφτηκα τις Σέρρες. Ειλικρινά ο,τι καλύτερο. Αν βρεθείτε στις Σέρρες και δε φατε ακανεδες Ρούμπου κάτι λείπει από το ταξίδι σας!
The best acacia there is. I ate for the first time 9 years ago when I visited Serres. Honestly the best. If you are in Serres and you do not eat rubies, something is missing from your trip!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing! You enter a small shop and immediately you’re hit by the fresh, soft, pure aroma of milk and butter. When you bite the akanes all these soft and tender tastes melt in your mouth. This cosy shop has the atmosphere of the past - things are simple and traditional like they were 100 years ago. A friend of mine remembers how he bought akanes from there in the late 50- es when 3 pieces cost 1 drahma and a half. He says the quality of this product, the taste and the way people make it is the same through the years. A magic trip in the past with a beautiful touch to tradition with this delicious and tasty dessert.........
