Irene is an excellent teacher, very patient, caring and willing to go above and beyond to make the lessons informative yet fun. I learnt so much during the 2 weeks thanks to Irene. We translated greek songs, learnt about greek history, mythology and the greek islands, did numerous listening and reading exercises and most importantly, practiced our speaking skills. During my 2 weeks we even had a film night at the school and also went to a local restaurant for dinner! Despite the global pandemic, Alexandria Institute did everything possible to minimize the risk. We social distanced during class, wore our masks and hand sanitizer and wipes were always available during every class. I can’t wait for my next trip to Greece so I can attend another course. A big thank you to Irene!

He was very patient, especially when we tried to find the right words to say, and also very patient and clear in explaining. I particularly liked how flexible he was - being open to the moment and going with the flow, rather than being too structured. The classes were a great balance of speaking, listening, reading and grammar. He clearly loves teaching which made it even more enjoyable for us. Chios is a very beautiful, non touristy island with a magical timeless feel. Voulamandis House accomodation was exceptional and right in the middle of a quiet area with cobbled narrow streets and a beautiful picturesque walk to sandy Karfas beach. Our holiday included excursions to beautiful sites such as Agios Isidoros church. Our host Andreas was very kind and attentive, making sure that we felt looked after. His knowledge of the local cuisine introduced us to some very delicious food! I found this quite an immersive experience in the beauty of Greece and particularly of this beautiful Island I thoroughly reccomend this for anyone learning the Greek language, whatever your level, and wanting to experience a beautiful traditional unspoilt Island.

The classes are documented and sent to you so you can review what was talked about in the class, There are optional assignments to do if you want. I have also attended their classes in Greece. All in all it is a positive experience with a relaxed atmosphere. I recommend the Alexandria Institute for Greek learning.

Spending the mornings learning Greek with excellent teachers (thank you Nikos and Chara), and then exploring the island in the afternoons was an excellent holiday. The villa was beautiful and Andreas was a great host. We would certainly consider going back next year! We would recommend the course to anyone who has an interest in Greek, no matter what level they are at. Mike and Fiona Cordy
M	Matt Katinas on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is the third summer in which I have been able to take Greek language lessons from the Alexandria Institute and my first time with private lessons at the school in Nea Ionia. The school is located in a wonderful neighborhood easily accessible from the Green Metro Line 1 with coffee shops, restaurants, and shopping nearby. Baio was my instructor. He was prompt, prepared, and wonderfully patient. Lessons were well organized and followed sequence and flow that included a combination of speaking, grammar, readings with follow up questions for comprehension and language practice, and vocabulary repetition of verb conjugations. This approach was helpful for me because it helped force me to practice speaking and kept me engaged and focused without ever spending too much time in one particular area. The sessions were two hours each and are reasonably priced. I hope to continue in this manner again next summer. Thank you Baio and the Alexandria Institute for continuing to help me on my Greek language learning journey!

I found in the Alexandria Institute’s offerings a perfect balance of language instruction, leisure time and activities during my two-week stay. The lessons were stimulating and perfectly geared to my language level; in addition, there were excursions to the loveliest and most interesting places on the island. Combine all this with beautiful Aegean surroundings and excellent company and you have a magic formula for a summer Greek course.

She solicited involvement from everyone in the class in a very relaxed and approachable way. She provided great insights into etymology of words that help us gain deeper understanding of the language and see connections with other vocabulary. She explained some challenging aspects of the language with little hints to help you remember. I'm very satisfied with the level of instruction. The other students are very motivated and engaged in learning which makes the class go by very quickly.
