We stayed at the Ameadros resort for the first time this year (July ‘18) and had a great time. The Villa is situated down a quiet road but still only a short drive away from Lixouri from which a ferry can take you to the capital in 20mins. A car is essential for the Villa and I would highly recommend Simotas. We are a family that likes to explore so having a base that could access all of the island with relative ease was essential, but knowing each day we could come home to peace and quiet was lovely. My family consists of 1 x wife, 2 x children (8yrs &3yrs) so having the layout all on one floor with no steps was perfect. It would also be great for wheelchair access as there is also an aid to get in and out of the pool (the kids mainly played with it on our visit!). The owners are very attentive and nothing is too much effort, I strongly recommend calling as soon as you land to get better directions to the Villa, no online Map service got it right and although close there are very few road signs etc to navigate so sat nav struggled. The Villa itself is spacious, modern, new, clean (fantastic cleaning staff) and comfortable. The kitchen is very well stocked and even had a toastie maker (for my 2 this ranked as a top 10 for the whole trip). The pool is fine for a young family like mine but not if you want to swim 40yard lengths. There are steps going into the pool that my 3yr old was fine to navigate and the deep end was about 6ft so fine for the 8yrs to “bomb” in. All in all we had a lovely holiday in Kefalonia and the Ameadros resort certainly added to our enjoyment.
