A circular tower of the Hellenistic period (4th-2nd century B.C). The height of the tower might have exceeded the 10-12 meters. Probably, the tower was used as an observatory or as a "beacon tower" where military signals were transmited by fire and smoke signals over long distance. The prominent position of the tower and the great view provided supports the above theory. Circular towers have been quite common in the Aegean during the Hellenistic period (4th-2nd century B.C) The building has a maximum external diameter of 8 m and a maximum internal diameter of approximately 6 m. The masonry of the exterior facade consists of well-dressed blocks of local granite laid in opus isodomum, while the less meticulous interior masonry consists of dressed and semi-dressed stones. The findings from the systematic investigation of the wider area, show that habituation of this area extends from the Early Bronze Age (3000 B.C) to the Roman period (2nd century A.C).
