Στην αρχαιότητα ανήκε στο βασίλειο της Ελιμιώτιδας , το οποίο μαζί με τα υπόλοιπα ελληνικά βασίλεια αποτελούσαν την Άνω Μακεδονία των αρχαίων . Με τις συστηματικές ανασκαφές που έγιναν το 1983 , έφεραν στο φως σημαντικά ευρήματα , που αποκαλύπτουν την προϊστορία της ευρύτερης περιοχής . Το Αρχαιολογικό μουσείο που βρίσκεται σήμερα εκεί , είναι ένα σύγχρονο ανακαινισμένο κτίριο , με τα εστεγαζμένα ευρήματα σε διάφορες αίθουσες . Διατηρούνται σε πάρα πολύ καλή κατάσταση . Ο κύριος στην είσοδο είναι πολύ γνώστης του αντικειμένου , και με πολλές πληροφορίες για την κάθε ερώτηση που έκανα . Σίγουρα αξίζει μια επίσκεψη σε αυτή την αρχαιολογική τοποθεσία , που ταυτίζεται με την πόλη που αναπτύσσεται στα επάλληλα πλατώματα ενός λόφου , με το χαρακτηριστικό όνομα Μεγάλη Ράχη . Aiani is located 20 km south of Kozani. In antiquity it belonged to the kingdom of Elimiotida, which together with the other Greek kingdoms constituted the Upper Macedonia of the ancients. Systematic excavations in 1983 brought to light important findings that reveal the prehistory of the wider area. The Archaeological Museum that is there today, is a modern renovated building, with the housed finds in various rooms. They are kept in very good condition. The gentleman at the entrance is very knowledgeable about the subject, and with a lot of information on every question I asked. Definitely worth a visit to this archeological site, which is identified with the city that develops on the overlapping plateaus of a hill, with the characteristic name Megali Rachi.

Especially when the annual run of Apollonodoros is organised through and around the ancient places of necropolis. The stuff is very polite - self motivated and committed to their work . They also organised the run for 18 times so you surelycan enjoy your visit near the lake and the hills. The excavations are still in the beginning as it was mentioned by some experts .Hope good work is a promise for an unexpected future!
