One of the most important prehistoric sites in Greece. It is located at the roots of the high hill of Pontikos, south of Myla, near the famous swampy lake of Lerna, where the mythology placed Lernaean Hydra. In the part that has been excavated the deeper layers yielded remains of long-term habitation of the Neolithic era (approximately 5500 to 3500 BC).

A site that is not well known given the proximity to so many other archeological sites with greater fame in the area of the Argolis. A site with more than five thousand years of history. Most impressive is a palace of the Heládic period. Mycenaean tombs and even Roman remains can also be observed. The cards could be clearer and more specific about what they point out.

The attendant wouldn't let me take pictures from the car park when she said I was too late to visit. She might not have understood me as her English was rather limited

This is one for archaeology enthusiasts, which we are. The information boards could be better and the site is quite difficult to understand. However, there are plans to radically improve the facilities and building work is starting. I suspect that the site will have to close when the works get close to the main site and it could be closed for some time. Looking forward to visiting again when it reopens.
