★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Η συγκεκριμένη τοποθεσία είναι ένα σπήλαιο στο οποίο οι λάτρεις της θέας έριχναν ομοιώματα από ζυμάρι, το οποίο συμβόλιζε την καλή γονιμότητα της γης, με την ελπίδα να έχουν καλή σοδειά. Ένα χαρακτηριστικό στο οποίο μπορεί να οφείλει και το όνομα της η πόλη είναι ότι τα λατρευτικά αυτά σπήλαια τα έλεγαν «μέγαρα». Ένα άλλο που αναφέρεται στην ονομασία, είναι ότι όταν έβγαζαν από το σπήλαιο τα ομοιώματα από ζυμάρι για να τα ρίξουν στα χωράφια σαν λίπασμα, αυτά είχαν ήδη μουχλιάσει, δηλαδή ήταν μαγαρισμένα οπότε μπορεί και από εκεί να βγήκε το όνομα της πόλης Μέγαρα.
