Γουρίδης, αναφέρει τα εξής : «Το κύριο τμήμα του μικρού κτιρίου το οποίο σώζεται σήμερα μπορεί να χρονολογηθεί στον αιώνα που πέρασε (20ος αι.). Εντούτοις, παλαιές τοιχοποιίες που σώζονται στον περίβολο του ναϋδρίου, αλλά και το ίδιο το καμαροσκέπαστο ιερό φανερώνουν ότι πιθανότατα το ναϋδριο έχει αξιομνημόνευτη ιστορία. Σε ότι αφορά τη νεότερη ιστορία του ναϋδρίου, στους κώδικες βρίσκουμε επισκευή του στα 1888, ενώ ακολουθεί ανακαίνιση το 1904-1905 επί μητροπολίτου Φιλαρέτου Βαφείδη, μαζί με την περιτείχιση του ναού». However, old masonry surviving in the dais and the shrouded shrine itself reveal that the hydrangea probably has a remarkable history. As far as the modern history of the hydridos is concerned, we find its repair in 1888, followed by a refurbishment in 1904-1905 of Metropolitan Filaretos Vafides, along with the ruin of the temple. The area where the chapel of Agia Marina is located today was part of the fortification of the Castle of Didymoteicho on the side of the river, which was built by the Emperor John Vatatzis.
