★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Today's small church of Agioi Pateres was built in 1894 on the site of the original Temple of Artemis Dyctina using material from the ancient temple. You can see this for yourself if you visit the Acropolis, as ancient inscriptions are set into the church walls, and part of the ancient altar has been used in the Christian one.
