★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A wonderful church resembling the prowess of 19th century Smardesh. Unfortunately it is closed.
A large, significant village in the 19th century inhabited by macedonian-slavs, razed consecutively to the ground by the turkish and greek armies in the 20th century. At the same time, the civil war and the greek policies against the Macedonian-slavs, made the village uninhabited. Fortunately in 1955 the government moved a lot of people there, giving it new life but losing its identity.
The church is the last remnant of that identity.
Lastly it is also the birthplace of Chekalarov.
