G	Giorgio Greektotti on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Πραγματικό στολίδι των Αφιδνών είναι ο Ιερός Ναός της Κοιμήσεως της Θεοτόκου που κοσμεί την κεντρική πλατεία. Χτίστηκε το 1954-55 στη θέση παλαιάς βασιλικής από τον αρχιτέκτονα Βασίλειο Νικολαΐδη κατόπιν πρωτοβουλίας του τότε εφημερίου μακαριστού Σπυρίδωνος Μπακάλη και των μελών του Εκκλησιαστικού Συμβουλίου. Ο ρυθμός του Ναού είναι τρίκλητη βασιλική μετά τρούλου. Ο πρώτος αγιογράφος ήταν ο Στέφανος Αλμαλιώτης (μαθητής του Φώτη Κόντογλου) ο οποίος δυστυχώς δεν ολοκλήρωσε την αγιογράφιση. Το τέμπλο και οι λοιπές μαρμάρινες κατασκευές από Τηνιακό μάρμαρο είναι έργα του Ιωάννη Φιλιππότη. Ξεχωριστά κειμήλια είναι οι περίπιστες εικόνες της Παναγίας Αφιδνιωτίσσης και της Κοιμήσεως της Θεοτόκου, οι οποίες αγιογραφήθηκαν το 1879 από τους Ιω. Ματθαίου - Ζ. Χατζή και κοσμούσαν το τέμπλο του παλαιού Ναού. Επίσης στο «ΠΑΝΤΕΙΟΝ» Πνευματικό Κέντρο του Ναού που εγκαινιάσθηκε από τον Σεβ. Μητροπολίτη Ιλίου, Αχαρνών και Πετρουπόλεως κ. Αθηναγόρα στις 2 Οκτωβρίου 2011, το οποίο λειτουργεί και ως Μουσείο, φυλάσσονται πολλές παλαιές εικόνες και άλλα κειμήλια. Εντός του Ιερού Βήματος φυλάσσονται αποτμήματα ιερών λειψάνων του Αποστόλου Ανδρέου, του Αγίου Βλασίου, Γεωργίου του Τροπαιοφόρου, Του Αγίου Μερκουρίου, των Αγίων Τεσσαράκοντα Μαρτύρων, Μελετίου του Νέου και της Μεγαλομάρτυρος Μαρίνης. Ο Ιερός Ναός ιδρύθηκε ως Ενοριακός το 1858 σύμφωνα με το Βασιλικό Διάταγμα του Βασιλέα Όθωνα (ΦΕΚ 26/17-7-1858). Εγκαινιάσθηκε την 21η Οκτωβρίου 2012 από τον Σεβ. Μητροπολίτη Ιλίου, Αχαρνών και Πετρουπόλεως κ. Αθηναγόρα. The real jewel of Afidnes is the Holy Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary that adorns the central square. It was built in 1954-55 on the site of an old basilica by the architect Vassilios Nikolaidis on the initiative of the then pastor Blessed Spyridon Bakalis and the members of the Ecclesiastical Council. The rhythm of the Temple is a three-aisled basilica with a dome. The first hagiographer was Stefanos Almaliotis (student of Fotis Kontoglou) who unfortunately did not complete the hagiography. The iconostasis and the other marble constructions from Tinian marble are works of Ioannis Filippotis. Special relics are the elaborate icons of Panagia Afidniotissi and the Assumption of the Virgin, which were painted in 1879 by Ioannis Mattheou - Z. Hatzis and adorned the iconostasis of the old church. Also in the "PANTEION" Spiritual Center of the Temple which was inaugurated by the Rev. Metropolitan of Ilio, Acharnes and St. Petersburg Mr. Athenagoras on October 2, 2011, which also functions as a Museum, many old icons and other relics are kept. Inside the Holy Step are kept fragments of holy relics of the Apostle Andrew, St. Vlasios, George the Trophy Bearer, St. Mercury, the Forty Martyrs, Meletius the Younger and the Great Martyr Marini. The Holy Temple was founded as a Parish in 1858 according to the Royal Decree of King Otto (Government Gazette 26 / 17-7-1858). It was inaugurated on October 21, 2012 by the Rev. Metropolitan of Ilio, Acharnes and St. Petersburg Mr. Athenagoras.
