I recently stayed at Congo Palace for 10 days and have stayed here other times as well that were over 1.5 years ago and the staff still remembered me! They were all so genuinely kind and willing to help me with so many requests from where to go to eat and get daily errands done. They told me where to get a computer charger that would work in Europe and it was only 3 Euros! They also helped me on where and how to go to get some business and registration things done that I need to do here! All so happy and friendly but genuinely there to help and make your day better! Hotel was clean and the pool was very nice and relaxing. Close to lots of shops and restaurants, very very easy access to the bus and tram. Easy access to walking beaches but also other beaches to take with the car or the bus!

CONGO HORROR STORY. Save your money. I booked online and was shown brand new renovated rooms. I got stuck in an old dated, dirty room with broken AC. When I arrived at the hotel at 2 am with 2 rooms booked the guy at the front desk started saying we cannot stay because one room we only put one person when it should have been 2. The room booked was a double room which obviously can house 2 people. My friend who payed the same as my room was confused as we both booked double rooms. I asked the guy how much extra he wanted as it was VERY CLEAR he just wanted to charge us more money. He ended up trying to charge us 20 euros more for the extra person in the room. Extremely rude. Keep in mind we were speaking to him in Greek the entire time. People were SMOKING IN THE HOTEL. Disgusting. Pretty sure it was even the people who worked there as when we told them they pretended they didn't smell anything. We asked for new rooms after showing them our dirty rooms and AC was broken and they were fully booked and gave all the new rooms to the wedding party. Anyway USELESS staff. Spend extra money and stay somewhere else like the Poseidon Hotel just down the street WAY BETTER.

Staff are friendly, the rooms are good size but poorly sound proofed and decor a bit dated. The location is good as you are only 5 mins from the beach area and similarly from the shops and amenities.

We turned up early hours of the morning. The entrance lobby and hall ways were beautiful. Got to the room it was disgusting the carpet was stained and ripped. There was sockets falling off. Squeaky bathroom door. Aircon didn’t work. Grout missing from the bathroom. Bathroom drains were grim! Beds if you could call them that were hard as rocks would of have better sleep on the balcony. Promised a sea view sure enough didn’t get it! Asked the man in the lobby about a different room took me to three different rooMs each were as bad as the next. Disgusting to call them a 4 star! Wouldn’t let as stay animal sleep in there! We checked out and found a new hotel which we had the best time! Don’t book this hotel!!!

Generally, it is nice hotel in the middle of the way between the Airport and city center. It could be recommended for the people who do not care about the small details but like communicate with hotel staff. 3 minutes to the beach (which has changing cabin, WC and shower – beware of the cars: they drive ca 100 km/h and never stop for pedestrian crossing!). Lots of cafes and shops around. Tram line to the center. The rooms are clean and would be ok, if the bathroom would had newer and better water taps. The shower was some own special story to operate. It looks like these remember Berlin wall, if not JFK. The sound insulation is quite poor, and the road nearby is somehow a huge attraction for crazy bikers in the middle of the night. The corridor doors have no better insulation. The card keys are extremely sensitive to everything, we have changed them 4-5 times during 6 days stay. The sea view from the rooms is nice although. The breakfast is a bit limited. Sometimes no fresh vegetables (usually just tomato), no ketchup neither mustard and sometimes no more sweets when you have breakfast closer to the end of breakfast time. Although the food is fresh and nice and most of the basics can be found. Extremely good coffee. Swimming pool is nice, a bit short working time between 10:30 and 18:30. The staff is the best I met in my long carrier. They are very friendly and helpful. We’ve got everything we asked, every time. Shortly, nice hotel with history, surely not 4 stars which can likely be average customers rating, not the hotel class, for sure.

I came back in 2019, and when we first came into the lobby I really thought it was luxury and was therefore excited to see the rooms - once we got there i was underwhelmed since it was out dated. I wish how the communal areas of the hotel like, dining area, lobby etc reflected the rooms itself. On a better note, the food was amazing (but expensive) and the staff were amazing too. The local shopping area was near too, great walking distance. Beach was close too.

BEWARE BEFORE BOOKING: ❌ Noise - half the hotel faces the road (/6 lane bypass!) and the sound insulation is incredibly poor (worse then I’ve ever experienced anywhere in the world). Also, many of the front rooms don’t have “sea views” as blocked by trees. My Apple Watch recorded nearly 80DB spikes throughout the night! Hotel desperately needs: (a) secondary glazing (b) all doors need proper sound seals (not just ‘draft’ protectors/bushes). I think they know this too. ❌ breakfast - quite limited. No offer to make anything fresh, very little / no fruit. No fresh juice, all processed stuff. Some of the food is sitting in the ‘warmers’ for far too long (this needs to be timed/monitored better). Bit ‘package holiday’ vibe. ☑️ Staff - Staff we’re very friendly and tried to be helpful. The hotel seemed a little under staffed, but that might just be the time of year (April, so very early season) In summary, this is a good 2 star hotel in my personal view. They’ve obviously been spending a bit of money on the place in the last few years (here and there I suspect) and the rooms where generally pretty good. However - it probably needs a “big push” refurbishment if it wants to keep the prices where it is, as currently I wouldn’t describe it as “good value” for Athens.

Walked into hotel and it looked lovely. The reception area was very clean and modern and the staff very friendly. The location was great. Right opposite the sea and all the shops directly behind. The bedrooms, were very old and tired looking with a musty smell. Carpet was ripped and stained in places. The main light worked sometimes, the lamp over the bed had a switch on the headboard where you rest the pillow, so my head would keep knocking the light switch on and off during sleeping or when trying to read in bed. My room did have a safety deposit box, but friends room did not. The one plug was loose on the wall, so avoided using that one. Not very well soundproofed walls, could hear everyone walking passed room and their whole conversation. As my room was on the side of the hotel, the traffic noise wasn't too bad. But others that had the front rooms, did complain about road noise. The Bathroom was small, the shower area was a small square just about big enough to stand in with a shower curtain which no matter which position you stood it touched your body. Very unhygienic. but if you kept the shower curtain open, the water would be all over the bathroom floor making it a danger hazard. Also no hairdryer in my room and nowhere to plug my electric toothbrush. Other friends rooms did have this. There was fridge in the room was very clean. The lifts were very small and slow only fit three people in at a time. The breakfast was the same food every day, which was fine as it had a selection of hot or cold, cereals, hot drinks and juice. The evening meals were very nice, but not much choice. There was no waiter around to order any drinks, so stuck with the water that was provided on the tables in jugs. The swimming pool looked lovely, but we were told the it wasn't open until June. This was a shame as the weather really was hot enough. But the staff were very friendly and tried hard to keep everyone happy.
