Έχει έκταση 193,308 τετραγωνικά χιλιόμετρα και το μήκος των ακτών της είναι 118,5 χιλιόμετρα.
Ο πληθυσμός του νησιού, κατά την απογραφή του 2001, ήταν 12.853 κάτοικοι και κατά την απογραφή του 2011, 13.710.
Η καίρια γεωγραφική θέση της Πάρου στο κεντρικό Αιγαίο, το σταυροδρόμι των θαλάσσιων δρόμων που συνδέουν την ηπειρωτική Ελλάδα με τα νησιά του Αρχιπελάγους, τα μικρασιατικά παράλια και ευρύτερα τη Μεσόγειο, αποτέλεσε τη διαχρονική βάση για την ανάπτυξη του νησιού.
Όσον αφορά τις υπηρεσίες του Δήμου, μία κακή Δημόσια υπηρεσία, με υπεράριθμους υπαλλήλους.
