★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Not only did we have the best food of our week in the Crete but we also had the best welcome, in the best location. Sitting under the trees at sunset and late into the evening, chatting with our friendly hosts with the river constantly gurgling in the background - the perfect place for a relaxing meal with friends or romantic evening with a loved-one. The food was superb - authentic, plentiful and well-priced, and our host very knowledgeable about Cretan food and wine. We will definitely come back and you should come too.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Drakiana Taverna is a fantastic oasis on the riverside up in the hills above Agia Marina.
A short drive through a winding road past olive gardens, and we were welcomed by lovely hostess Teresa, her daughter Manolia, and two big dogs, Sifis and Bella. When they bark, it's only to say hello. The dogs are friendly, so don't worry when they say "What's up?" in their big dog way.
We are very happy with our visit! The food was good and authentic. Relaxed atmosphere and beautiful scenery! Highly recommended! And did I mention we loved the dogs? ❤

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Come here to get away from the hordes of tourists and enjoy the delicious food next to a soothing flowing river. They also have the best playlist on the speakers.
P.s., river water isn’t drinkable.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ As always Drakiana offers very good food, local wine and amazing surrounding next to the river Iardanos (famous from Homers verses). Fair prices, very laid-back and some of the most comfy chairs I've ever sat on. I've been coming for 20+ years and I will be back!
