Το 1936, όταν ο μικρός οικισμός ανατολικά τού Κριού ποταμού άρχισε να μεγαλώνει, αποφασίστηκε να κατασκευασθεί εκατό περίπου μέτρα νοτιότερα νέα εκκλησία. Έτσι, ο οικισμός "Οικονομέϊκα", που τότε άνοικε στην κοινότητα Βλοβοκάς, απέκτησε δική του εκκλησία. Καθοριστικό χρονικό σημείο για την ιστορία του Ναού και της περιοχής Οικονομέικα (που πήρε το όνομά της από το επώνυμο της περιβόητης Αρχόντισσας - Οικονομοπούλου), ήταν το εξής περιστατικό: Μετά το γκρέμισμα του παλαιού Ναού Αγίου Παντελεήμονος Αιγείρας, χρησιμοποιήθηκε για επτά και πλέον χρόνια (1955-1962) το εκκλησάκι τού Αϊ Γιάννη ως ενοριακός ναός τής Αιγείρας. Την εποχή εκείνη εκφράστηκε αίτημα των κατοίκων των Οικονομεΐκων να ενταχθούν στην κοινότητα Αιγείρας πράγμα που έγινε δεκτό ύστερα από διοικητικές και δικαστικές αποφάσεις, και έτσι τα όρια τής Αιγείρας μεταφέρθηκαν {11 Ιουνίου 1960} από τον Κριό ποταμό στο Λαγκάδι τού Αρμυρού (δυτικά του σημερινού αλιευτικού καταφυγίου Μαύρων Λιθαρίων)...
