Α	Αγγελική Π. on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Πήγα στη συγκεκριμένη εκκλησία να ανάψω μια λαμπάδα κι έριξα κέρματα στον κερματοδέκτη. Δίνοντάς μου τη λαμπάδα στο χέρι μια γυναίκα που καθάριζε τα χαλιά της εκκλησίας, μου είπε με το άγριο ότι δεν πλήρωσα τη λαμπάδα κι ότι η ταρίφα της λαμπάδας είναι στα 5 ευρώ!!! Όταν της ανέφερα ότι σε άλλες εκκλησίες της Σαλαμίνας (όπως στον Άγιο Ανδρέα ή στη Φανερωμένη) οι νεοκόροι λένε στους πιστούς να αφήνουν όσα χρήματα θέλουν, άρχισε να φωνάζει ότι οι λαμπάδες κοστίζουν λεφτά όταν τις αγοράζει η εκκλησία. Πόσα χρήματα, αλήθεια, κοστίζει μία λαμπάδα εκτός εκκλησίας που εντός της εκκλησίας κοστολογείται με 5 ευρώ; ειλικρινά, στενοχωρήθηκα με αυτή την αντίδραση. Ελπίζω ο εφημέριος να επιληφθεί του θέματος γιατί τέτοια συμβάντα ντροπιάζουν την εικόνα του νησιού μας προς τους επισκέπτες του. I went to that church to light a candle and toss coins into the coin acceptor. Giving me the candle in his hand, a woman who was cleaning the carpets of the church, told me wildly that I did not pay for the candle and that the tariff for the candle is 5 euros !!! When I told her that in other churches in Salamis (such as Agios Andreas or Faneromeni) the nuns tell the faithful to leave as much money as they want, she started shouting that candles cost money when the church buys them. How much money, really, does a candle outside the church cost, which inside the church costs 5 euros? honestly, I was upset with this reaction. I hope the pastor addresses the issue because such events shame the image of our island to its visitors.

Καραϊσκακη ενταφιασμένα εκει, το καθιστά υψιστης σημασίας ναός προς προσκύνημα. Church with a long history and very well decorated. The fact that there are bones of General G. Karaiskakis buried there makes it a most important temple for pilgrimage.

Το 1835, επεκτάθηκε προς τα Δυτικά και προστέθηκε το καμπαναριό. Το δεξί κλίτος του ναού (αφιερωμένο στον Άγιο Ραφαήλ) είναι κτίσμα του 1973. Μέσα στο ναό βρίσκονται 2 έργα του Γιαννούλη Χαλεπά (ο Δεσποτικός Θρόνος και ο Άμβωνας) και 8 πίνακες του Πολυχρόνη Λεμπέση. Μεσα στο ναό βρισκεται ο τάφος του Ήρωα της Επανάστασης του 1821 Γεωργίου Καραϊσκάκη. The Holy Temple of Ag. Dimitriou (erected in 1806 on the ruins of a 17th century church) is a copy of the Monastery of Faneromeni. In 1835, it expanded to the West and the bell tower was added. The right aisle of the church (dedicated to Saint Raphael) is a building of 1973. Inside the church are 2 works by Giannoulis Halepas (the Despotic Throne and the Pulpit) and 8 paintings by Polychronis Lembesis. Inside the church is the tomb of the Hero of the Revolution of 1821 Georgios Karaiskakis.
