★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ο Άγιος Γεράσιμος στα Νεροκούρου χτίστηκε τη δεκαετία του 90. Είναι αγιογραφημένος στο μεγαλήτερο ποσοστό του και είναι το στολίδι του χωριού.
Ο Άγιος Γεράσιμος ο Νοταράς είναι άγιος της ανατολικής Ορθοδόξου Εκκλησίας. Γεννήθηκε στα Τρίκαλα Κορινθίας το 1506.
Ο πατέρας του, Δημήτριος από το γνωστό Βυζαντινό γένος των Νοταράδων, και κατά την παράδοση συγγενής του μεγάλου Δούκα Λουκά Νοταρά που καθαιρέθηκε κατά την Άλωση της Κωνσταντινουπόλεως, καθώς και η μητέρα του Καλή, του ενεφύσησαν την αγάπη για τον Χριστό. Το κοσμικό όνομα του αγίου ήταν Γεώργιος.
Ο άγιος έφυγε έφηβος από το σπίτι του και το 1527 πήγε στην Ζάκυνθο για να συμπληρώσει τη μόρφωσή του. Αργότερα πήγε στην Ιερουσαλήμ όπου χειροτονήθηκε διάκονος και πρεσβύτερος από τον Πατριάρχη Ιεροσολύμων Γερμανό με το όνομα Γεράσιμος προς τιμήν του αγίου Γερασίμου του Ιορδανίτου. Εκεί έμεινε δώδεκα χρόνια υπηρετώντας στο ναό της Αναστάσεως. Περιόδευσε στην Αίγυπτο και τη Συρία για να επιστρέψει το 1559 στην Κεφαλονιά όπου και ίδρυσε το μοναστήρι του.
Ο Άγιος Γεράσιμος πέθανε την 15η Αυγούστου του 1579. Επειδή την ημέρα αυτή γιορτάζεται η κοίμηση της Θεοτόκου, η γιορτή του Άγιου Γεράσιμου είναι ακριβώς την επόμενη μέρα. Ο Άγιος Γεράσιμος γιορτάζεται επίσης και στις 20 Οκτωβρίου, η οποία μέρα αποτελεί και επίσημη αργία στο νησί της Κεφαλονιάς.
Saint Gerasimos in Nerokourou was built in the 90's. It is frescoed in its largest proportion and is the jewel of the village.
Saint Gerasimos Notaras is a saint of the Eastern Orthodox Church. He was born in Trikala in Corinth in 1506.
His father, Dimitrios, from the well-known Byzantine genus of the Notaries, and during the surrender of the great Duke Lucas Notaras, who was deposed during the Conquest of Constantinople, and his good mother, embraced his love for Christ. The secular name of the saint was George.
The Saint left adolescence from his home and in 1527 went to Zakynthos to complete his education. He later went to Jerusalem where he was ordained a deacon and a senior by the German Patriarch of Jerusalem under the name of Gerasimus in honor of Saint Gerasimus of Jordan. He stayed there for twelve years serving in the temple of the Resurrection. He traveled to Egypt and Syria to return to Kefalonia in 1559 where he founded his monastery.
Saint Gerasimos died on August 15, 1579. As the day of the Assumption is celebrated, St. Gerasimos' feast is the very next day. Agios Gerasimos is also celebrated on October 20, which is a public holiday on the island of Kefalonia.
