Η περιοχή έχει χαρακτηριστεί > και εκκρεμεί η ίδρυση παλαιοντολογικού πάρκου και παλαιοντολογικού μουσείου.
 Pikermi is also called "Acropolis of Paleontology"! Significant fossils of animals that lived 6.5-7 million years ago have been discovered in the area, many of which have become extinct, such as cuttings, mastodons and dinosaurs. The area has been designated "Archaeological landscape of special natural beauty" and the establishment of a palaeontological park and palaeontological museum is pending.
