The Arabic inscription of the fountain in the area in front of Emîrzâde Mosque in the castle has survived to the present day. The remains of the water channels built by Captain Derya Halil Pasha are still encountered today and their introduction was made by Bakhuizen.
Evliya Çelebi, who sees Eğriboz, gives valuable information about this place and the Islamic structures that are almost all destroyed today. Describing the fortress and fortifications and bridges in detail, Evliya Çelebi speaks of the mosque that eleven Muslim neighborhoods and eleven mosques in the city, as well as the mosque of Dâvud Bey, Emîrzâde, Filzâde, and Karlızâde, as well.
It also states that there are six masjids, and among them, Osman Ağa Masjid, Turhan Bey Lodge Masjid, Hasan Baba Masjid, Küçük İlyas Masjid, Masa Aga Masjid.
During the Greek war of independence, intense clashes occur in Eğriboz. The city, which remained in the hands of the Ottomans during the war, was given to the Greeks in 1831 after the peace treaty came into force. Then the city's Muslim population migrates to Ottoman lands by selling all their goods at very cheap prices.
Almost all Ottoman buildings were destroyed during the 19th century. The most important building that can survive is this Emîrzâde Mosque in the castle. The mosque, which was restored after the 2nd World War, is now used as the warehouse and exhibition hall of the archeology museum and contains many Ottoman tombstones.
İbrâhim b. The Mehmed Fountain was moved to the courtyard of the Emîrzâde Mosque in 1960, and the inscription of Halil Pasha was added. The important ones of the gravestones are the ones belonging to the woman of Hatice, daughter of İbrâhim Pasha, Mehmed Hakkı Pasha, son of Egriboz vizier Kamil Ahmed Ahmed Pasha, and wife of Egriboz guard and wife of Zibaba Sâmi Pasha.

The Mosque of Emir Zade is one of the mosques that were built during the Ottoman domination in Chalkis or else Egriboz, as the city had known during those years.
The mosque of Emir Zadeh is now almost intact. In a prominent position, at a high point on a central square, today's Fallen Empire at Kotsou Street, it was built in the late 5th century. The peninsula is preserved by the imposing Chalil Fountain of the same period. It is one of the nineteen public fountains built during the Ottoman period and is also mentioned by Evliya Celebi. The fountain, decorated with ornate reliefs of Arabic art, has inscriptions.
In May 2013, the necessary work was carried out for the restoration and conversion of the mosque into an exhibition space in order to host a large part of the Karakostas Collection (a collection of engravings by Ioannis Karakostas).
The main objective of the exhibition is the modern visitor to get to know Evia better through scenes of everyday life, landscapes, plenty of maps and information material, as well as discover the history and evolution of Chalkida from the Middle Ages to the end of Ottoman domination.
The engraving report includes 69 of the works of the Collection and is structured in the following four thematic sections:
- "Evia on nautical charts".
- "The city of Chalkida".
- "Landscapes of Evia".
- "Snapshots from the past".
The mosque dominates the modern city and is a symbol of that era.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wonderful place, unfortunately one of the few remnants of any architectural style in Chalkida. The mosque itself operates as a gallery and the park surrounding it has a playground and is family friendly.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Not much to see here - few maps from the 16-18th century of the city. Note the opening hours - when I was there it was 10-14 on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday, but it might change, and might not even be open at those hours. Something nice to do if you are in the area, but I wouldn't venture especially for it.
