★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Δεύτερη φορά που επισκεπτόμαστε συτο το κατάλυμα. Πέρσι (2019) όλα ηταν πολύ καλά παρά του ότι κατά την άφιξη μας (σε προκαθορισμένη ώρα) περιμέναμε 30 λεπτά τους ιδιοκτήτες να έρθουν απο το μπανιο τους. Το παραβλέψαμε, δεδομένου ότι ολα στη συνέχεια ήταν καλά.
Φέτος δυστυχώς η κατάσταση δεν ήταν η ίδια.
1) Κατά την άφιξη μας οι υπευθυνοι ειχαν ξεχάσει τη κράτηση μας με αποτέλεσμα να περιμένουμε να καθαριστεί καποιο δωμάτιο για να μπούμε,
2) Σε απόπειρα να κάνουμε ντουζ το βράδυ δεν υπήρχε ζεστο νερό. (Η απάντηση του υπεύθυνου ήταν ότι "μαλλον θα χρησιμοποίησε κάποιος αλλος ένοικος ολο το ζεστο νερο και έπρεπε να μου το πείτε"),
3) Ενώ στη τηλεφωνική κράτηση ειχαμε ζητησει πρωινό για 3 άτομα, διαπιστώσαμε οτι δεν είχε προβλεφθεί πρωινο. Προθυμοποιήθηκε ενας εκ των υπευθυνων να φωναξει την υπεύθυνη να φτιαξει τα πρωινά. Η κυρία θα βρισκόταν σε δέκα λεπτά στο χώρο προκειμένου να φτιαξει τα πρωινά. Αρνηθηκαμε ευγενικά, λόγω απογοήτευσης. Πολύ άσχημη εντύπωση μας άφησε η φράση της υπεύθυνου οταν ήρθε " που ειναι αυτοι??" (Δε γνωριζε οτι ακουγοταν )- (Δεν είμαστε "Αυτοί". Εχουμε ονόματα.) Ακομα πιο απογοητευτική η αιτιολόγηση της για το οτι δεν είχαμε κλείσει δωμάτιο με πρωινό : " μα είναι δυνατό να ξεχάσω πρωινά τα οποια κανουν 15 ευρω? "
4) Μπροστά στα παραπάνω, είναι αμελητέα ζητήματα: ενα χαρτί τουαλέτας για 3 ατομα για 2 24ωρα δεν ειναι επαρκες προφανώς. Το γκαζακι για τον καφέ ηταν τελειωμένο.
Κατά τα άλλα τα δωμάτια ειναι προσεγμένα και καθαρά και επειδη επισκεπτόμαστε καθε χρονο την περιοχή είχαμε αποφασίσει να πηγαίνουμε κάθε χρονο εκεί. Δυστυχώς τωρα πλέον δε θα το ξαναεπισκεπτούμε. Δεν είμαστε ουτε λοξοί, ουτε περίεργοι ούτε παράξενοι, απλά η φετινή μας εμπειρία ήταν πάρα πολύ άσχημη και οφείλουμε να την καταγράψουμε.
 Second time we visit all the accommodation. Last year (2019) everything was very good despite the fact that upon our arrival (at a pre-arranged time) we waited 30 minutes for the owners to come out of their bathroom. We overlooked it, since then everything was fine.
This year, unfortunately, the situation was not the same.
1) Upon arrival the people in charge had forgotten our reservation so we waited for a room to be cleaned to enter,
2) In an attempt to take a shower at night there was no hot water. (The manager's response was that "probably another tenant would use all the hot water and you should have told me"),
3) While in the phone reservation we had requested breakfast for 3 people, we found that no breakfast was provided. One of the people in charge was willing to call the person in charge to make the breakfasts. The lady would be on site in ten minutes to make breakfast. We politely declined, out of frustration. We were very impressed by the phrase of the person in charge when it came "where are they ??" (She did not know what she was hearing) - (We are not "They". We have names.) Even more disappointing is her reasoning that we did not book a room with breakfast: "but is it possible to forget breakfast which costs 15 euros?"
4) In the face of the above, there are negligible issues: a toilet paper for 3 people for 2 24 hours is obviously not enough. The gas stove was finished.
Otherwise the rooms are neat and clean and because we visit the area every year we had decided to go there every year. Unfortunately now we will not visit it again. We are neither oblique, nor strange or strange, just our experience this year was very bad and we have to record it.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Posto tranquillo, gestori simpatici, prezzi Bassi anche per gli standard Cretesi. Pulitissimo, non cercate però di cucinare qui a meno che non vi accontentate di pasta al tonno e poco altro.... Due Minimarket scarsamente forniti! Comunque a 200-500 MT. Due taverne: cena per due tra 19€ e 30€ a coppia!!!
Certo deve piacere il mare, la natura ed aborrire la bolgia marinara estiva.!
Quiet place, nice managers, low prices even for Cretan standards. Spotless, but don't try to cook here unless you settle for pasta with tuna and little else .... Two poorly stocked minimarkets! However at 200-500 MT. Two tavernas: dinner for two between € 19 and € 30 per couple !!!
Of course you have to like the sea, nature and abhor the summer seaside bedlam.!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Simply one of my favourite places to stay in Crete! Xerokambos is somewhere you visit for beautiful scenery and peace and quiet, and Faros apartments is my go-to place to stay when I'm there.
The room was fully kitted out with a kitchenette and all the utensils you would need to be self sufficient! They even include a moka and a coffee machine to use your favourite ground coffee in! The room was very clean, with the A/C and TV remotes sealed which I thought was a nice touch. There's also a fire extinguisher in the room which I find to be a bit of a rarity in Crete!
The views are outstanding, and the owners have a beautiful sculpted garden in front of the apartment which just adds to it. The balcony was big and private, and offers just the most incredible views both during the day and night! There is also private parking available.
The owners are very helpful and you can tell they really care about their guests.
The area itself is very quiet, with lots of beaches to choose from. The local restaurant makes good, if typical, Cretan food and at a reasonable price. It's a 3' walk from the apartments, and we ended up walking up and getting a takeaway so we could sit on our balcony and eat while enjoying the view! The couple of tavernas on the more populated part of beach are pricey and mediocre quality, but you come to Xerokambos for the quiet and scenery!
Overall I adore this part of Crete, and would absolutely recommend a visit and Faros apartments if you want to really relax.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We got the ipokampos room on the second floor. View was great and it is so nice and quiet. The balcony was large and perfect for relaxing. Maria and Lefteris were great hosts treating us grapes and we're there for all our questions. We will definitely come back and highly recommend it.
