★ ★ ★ ★ ★ As this is just the listing of the entrance, I’ve written relevant info to that. Info about the fortress you can find in another listing of the fortress itself.
So, this entrance is a large gate that opens and closes in the morning and evening according to the Fortress’s operation hours.
If you don’t have a car and you don’t want to take a can to the other entrance on the other side, this is the best and also challenging way up there.
The climb, according to my count, is almost 900 stairs. You have plenty of places to stop and rest, and of course admire the amazing views.
You can enter the fortress 20 min before they close but you won’t manage to see the castle, and you might only catch the sunset.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great place to visit and get a birds eye view of Nafplio town . There are two ways to get there -by taxi and a short hike that involves about 1000 steps. If you do the latter, go in the morning. Gates open at 8 am and until about 10 30 am the stairs are in the shade of the hill so it's not too hot. Wear good shoes, take a bottle of water. once you reach the top, you can refill the water. Ticket is 8 euros. The views are absolutely worth it, the fortress area is pretty big and you are allowed to climb up the ramparts and see different parts of the city. Absolutely worth doing if you visit Nafplio.
