προέρχεται απ' τις λέξεις καράβι+πόρος, επειδή η διέλευση του Πηνειού στο σημείο αυτό γίνονταν με "καράβι" ή περαταριά. Η κατασκευή της παλαιάς μεταλλικής γέφυρας ολοκληρώθηκε μετά το 1902. Σε επίσημα έγγραφα του κράτους αναφέρεται ως γέφυρα Στεφανοσαίων. (Στεφανοσαίοι είναι η παλαιά ονομασία του Δροσερού). Η κατασκευή της νέας γέφυρας ολοκληρώθηκε το 1962. Επίσης στο έργο του ΣΠΥΡΟΠΟΥΛΟΥ ΝΙΚΟΛΑΟΥ υπαρχηγού του Γενικού Επιτελείου Στρατού «θΕΣΣΑΛΙΑ: ΓΕΝΙΚΗ ΤΟΥ ΕΔΑΦΟΥΣ ΔΙΑΠΛΑΣΙΣ ΚΑΙ ΦΥΣΙΚΗ ΕΝ ΓΕΝΕΙ ΓΕΩΓΡΑΦΙΑ» έκδοση 1932 η γέφυρα βρίσκεται «Παρά τούς Στεφανοσαίους".
