Key Personnel

Vasiliki (Betty) Charalampopoulou – CEO

is a geologist, with a specialization in remote sensing, photogrammetry and GIS applications. In 1992, she graduated from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and since then, she has been working on research projects in the area of photogrammetry, Earth observation and geoinformatics. Since 2011, she is the CEO of Geosystems Hellas S.A., providing consulting, solutions and services on GIS and WebGIS, photogrammetry and Earth observation applications. As CEO and President she has established methodologies and formulated strategies, gaining many distributions and collaborations. She has also established several international collaborations with EARSC, ESA, CNR, ESA, NASA, ISA, UNESCO, FIG, OGC, etc. and several international universities, local governments and industries, under the framework of collaborative H2020 and Interreg calls participation. In 2012, she established the company’s R&D division and had successful R&D projects under her supervision, with transferability to many industries and countries. She is also responsible for the distribution of roles and responsibilities in the company.

Christos Kontopoulos – CTO

received his diploma from National and Technical University of Athens (NTUA) – School of Rural & Surveying Engineering. His main research interests and areas of specialization lie in the fields of Εarth Observation and remote sensing, GIS, photogrammetry and geospatial data analysis. He has been enrolled in several research projects and research teams, in the aforementioned domains while also presenting a great experience on photogrammetric, LIDAR data analyzing, cadastre and satellite data exploitation projects. His main expertise also include the development of Machine Learning and Deep Learning models for EO data classification and pattern recognition techniques. He has also been involved in several other commercial projects, as a remote sensing and photogrammetry specialist, dealing with the processing and the analysis of multispectral and hyperspectral optical data, UAV data as well as LIDAR and SAR data. He is the project Manager for METEORA and BLENDED : Synergetic use of Blockchain and Deep Learning for Space Data projects.

Katerina Fotiou – Key Account Manager

has graduated from the School of Rural and Surveying Engineering of National and Technical University of Athens (NTUA). She is also enrolled in the Msc program Geoinformatics, also in NTUA. Her main interests are generally related to the science of Photogrammetry and especially the construction and use of Digital Terrain Models for the extraction of environmental data and also 3D reconstruction of objects. She has also found herself involved with spatial data analysis using tools of GIS. She has been working at Geosystems Hellas since 2019. She is responsible for PLANET and SkyWatch imagery solutions.

Konstantinos Fokeas – ERDAS Technical Support Manager

graduated in 2017 from the Department of Rural and Surveying Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens. He is currently completing an MSc program in Data Science from NCSR “Demokritos”. His main interests and areas of expertise are in the fields of remote sensing, big data management, machine learning and open-source software development. He has participated in research projects and teams, in the fields of remote sensing and GIS and has experience in developing and implementing machine learning models. He has been working at Geosystems Hellas since 2021.

Stavros Chlorokostas – Hexagon Geospatial Solutions Tech Support

has graduated from the School of Rural and Surveying Engineering of National and Technical University of Athens (NTUA) where he also earned his Msc. degree in Geoinformatics. His professional interests are focused on Geographical Information Systems, Remote Sensing and geospatial data management. He has been working for Geosystems Hellas since 2021 and is responsible for the issuing and management of licensing for digital products issued by Hexagon AB.

Christina Lydia Valdesera – Technical Sales Manager

is a post-graduate student of National Technical University of Athens’ School of Rural, Surveying and Geoinformatics Engineering and more specifically of the Department of Environment & Development. She graduated from Harokopio University of Athens with experience in Remote Sensing and Earth Observation Applications. Her experience lies in providing integrated geospatial solutions for advanced markets and applications in the fields of Geo-information. She is also interested in environmental sciences and skilled in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). She has been working for Geosystems Hellas since 2021.

Kostas Vrakopoulos – Senior Software Engineer

is a graduate of the School of Electric Engineering and Engineering of Computers at the National Technical University of Athens, with a focus on Applied Mathematics, Computer Science and Machine Learning. He has worked in projects related to the Internet of Things, Telecommunications, the Blockchain and Geospatial Data. He has been with Geosystems Hellas since 2021.

Alexandros Paraskeuas – GIS Junior Engineer

is a Geographer with specialization in geoinformatics and remote sensing applications. He has graduated from Harokopio University of Athens (HUA) in 2022. His main interest is geoinformatics and area mapping. In 2019 he conducted his internship in Geosystems Hellas as technical staff and participated in the project for the creation of an online database of aerial photography for the national land registry. He has expertise in SAR imagery selection and process. He is the project manager for SAR processes in project STABLE.

Thomas Papakosmas – GIS Junior Engineer

is a Physicist with a diploma from National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) since 2018, and also holds an MSc in ”Environment and Development of Mountain Regions” from the National and Technical University of Athens (NTUA) since 2021. His main research interests lie in remote sensing and GIS applications and geospatial data analysis. He has been working at Geosystems Hellas since 2021.

Chrysa Arsenaki – Marketing & Accountant Assistant

graduated from the AKMI Vocational Training Institute in 2020 as an Animation Technician – Electronic Graph Designer. She specializes in Autodeck 3D Max and other graphic programs. She has been working at Geosystems Hellas since April 2021.

Erietta Vlachou – Customers & Partners Support

is currently studying in the department of Geology and Geoenvironment of National and kapodistrian University of Athens, since 2013. She has been working at Geosystems Hellas since 2021.
