★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Κατάλαβα, καθυστερημένα και ασυναίσθητα πως συνειδητά απέφευγα να γράψω οτιδήποτε για τις περσινές διακοπές μας, ίσως λόγω ενοχών γιατί η πλειοψηφία του κόσμου δεν είχε την ικανότητα ίσως γιατί δεν μπορούσα να εκφράσω κατάλληλα το πώς περάσαμε στις καλοκαιρινές διακοπές μας.
Οι καλοκαιρινές διακοπές μας λοιπόν, πέρυσι ήταν από κάθε άποψη διαφορετικές. Κατ’ αρχάς λόγω της πανδημιας και του φόβου που αυτή δημιουργούσε. Η επιλογή μας όμως να επισκεφτούμε τη Μήλο και συγκεκριμένα το «σπίτι της γιαγιάς» απεδείχθη σωτήρια. Πρωτίστως διότι σε καμία περίπτωση, καθ΄ όλη τη διάρκεια των διακοπών μας δεν σκεφτήκαμε πως είχαμε νοικιάσει απλά ένα χώρο προσωρινής διαμονής. Νιώσαμε εξ’ αρχής φιλοξενούμενοι από φίλους κι ας μην γνωριζόμασταν ως τότε με τη Φλώρα κι αυτό ήταν πολύ σημαντικό. Το «σπίτι» βρίσκεται, κυριολεκτικά 20 βήματα από την ακρογιαλιά κι ακριβώς πίσω από τον δρόμο με όλα τα εστιατόρια του χωριού. Είναι δηλαδή τοποθετημένο με τέτοιο τρόπο ώστε να εξασφαλίζει ησυχία και συνάμα εύκολη πρόσβαση στην παραλία και στον πολυσύχναστο δρόμο με τις γραφικές ταβερνούλες πάνω στο κύμα. Δεν ένιωθες την ανάγκη να μετακινηθείς πουθενά, αν και η Μήλος προσφέρεται για κάτι τέτοιο, γιατί είχες τα πάντα στα πόδια σου. Η αυλή, του πολύ προσεγμένου και υπέροχα διατηρημένου σπιτιού που αναδίδει άκοπα την αίσθηση του παραδοσιακού σπιτιού που διέμενε η «γιαγιά μας», είναι ιδανική για να απολαύσεις το πρωινό ή ένα βραδινό ποτό, με θέα την ακροθαλασσιά.
Το σπίτι είναι αρκετά μεγάλο και άνετο, με μια λειτουργικότατη κουζίνα με όλους τους απαραίτητους εξοπλισμούς, τον μικρό «Οντά»-καθιστικό με τον καναπέ και την τηλεόρασή του καθώς και την πολύ άνετη και εξαιρετικά διακοσμημένη κρεβατοκάμαρα. Αν πρέπει να έβρισκα ένα ψεγάδι θα έλεγα απλά ως ένα σημείο την υγρασία για την οποία όμως έχει μεριμνήσει η Φλώρα ώστε να μην αποτελεί σημαντικό αποτρεπτικό παράγοντα αλλά μια μάλλον ανεπαίσθητη όχληση.
Για οτιδήποτε χρειαστήκαμε στο νησί η Φλώρα ήταν πηγή άντλησης γνώσεων και αναπάντεχη βοήθεια στις δυσκολίες που προέκυψαν ακόμη και στην προσωπική αβελτηρία μου.
Εν κατακλείδι, μην το σκέφτεστε. Το μέρος είναι μαγικό, το σπίτι απίστευτα λειτουργικό, άνετο και φιλόξενο και σε εξαιρετική τοποθεσία. Η φιλοξενία είναι αντάξια του ξένιου Δία και οι διακοπές σας θα είναι αξέχαστες…
 I realized, belatedly and unconsciously, that I consciously avoided writing anything about our vacation last year, perhaps because of guilt because most people did not have the ability, perhaps because I could not properly express how we spent our summer vacation.
So our summer vacation last year was different in every way. First of all, because of the pandemic and the fear it created. However, our choice to visit Milos and specifically the "grandmother's house" proved to be a savior. Primarily because in no case, throughout our vacation did we think we had just rented a temporary accommodation. From the beginning we felt hosted by friends even though we did not know Flora until then and that was very important. The "house" is located, literally 20 steps from the beach and just behind the road with all the restaurants of the village. In other words, it is located in such a way as to ensure peace and at the same time easy access to the beach and the busy street with the picturesque taverns on the sea. You did not feel the need to move anywhere, although Milos is suitable for such a thing, because you had everything on your feet. The courtyard of the very neat and beautifully preserved house that unmistakably conveys the feeling of the traditional house where "our grandmother" lived, is ideal to enjoy breakfast or an evening drink, overlooking the sea.
The house is quite large and comfortable, with a very functional kitchen with all the necessary equipment, the small "Onda" -living room with its sofa and TV as well as the very comfortable and highly decorated bedroom. If I had to find a flaw I would just say as a point the humidity that Flora has taken care of so that it is not an important deterrent but a rather imperceptible nuisance.
For everything we needed on the island, Flora was a source of knowledge and unexpected help in the difficulties that arose even in my personal innocence.
In conclusion, do not think about it. The place is magical, the house incredibly functional, comfortable and welcoming and in a great location. The hospitality is worthy of the foreign Zeus and your vacation will be unforgettable…
