tolle Weinprobe mit phantastischen Weinen .Die Winzer ist mit Leib und Seele dabei.
We were warmly welcomed there as guests and had one
great wine tasting with fantastic wines. The winegrower is with body and soul here.

Παρ' όλη την βροχή !! τα καταφέραμε !!
Επιβαλλόταν σήμερα γιατί αυτό το Σαββατοκύριακο που 'τρέχει' (27-28/05) είναι οι 'ανοιχτές πόρτες όλων των Οινοποιείων σε όλη την Ελλάδα' !!!
Today we went to Gikas Winery for the first time !!
Despite the rain !! we did it !!
It was imposed today because this 'running' weekend (27-28/05) is the 'open door of all Wineries throughout Greece' !!!

We had a 5 hour layover at Athens Airport, so we decided to try a winery nearby for a wine tasting.
We called Several wineries in the area and none could accommodate us. We called Gikas Winery and no one answered. But based on a blog I had read, we took a chance to go to Gikas Winery. When we arrived they happily obliged to give us a wine tasting! The owner gave us the wine tasting and she was so passionate about her work! She was excited and easy to talk to and gave us great explanations about each wine! I highly recommend taking the time to visit this family owned winery!
The taxis from the airport will tell you “Spata is very far away and you won’t be able to find a taxi.” It’s not true. The winery called their local taxi for us and he was waiting for us after our tasting and it cost about half of the airport taxi (15 euro).
Gikas winery does wine tastings from 10am to 4pm I believe. I think it was 18 Euro per person and they served about 7 wines and a platter of cheese, tomatoes and bread. Excellent experience!
