I am uploading this review from my husband's gmail as I do not have such an account, but I wanted to share my experience. In brief, Dr Kyriakopoulos is a great laparoscopic/hysteroscopic surgeon, specialised in endometriosis, and a great person full of passion for his occupation and respect and compassion for his patients. Under his care, I've undergone a 4-hour surgery during which he removed with excision endometriosis (including a big ovarian cyst of 7.5 cm), a myoma, and a polyp. Everything went great and next day I was back home! I should note that before the surgery we had a meeting during which he gave me the opportunity to take decisions about my own body (what I wanted to do in case endometriosis had seriously damaged specific organs) and he gave me a detailed record of everything that happened during the surgery! His private medical practice is great: modern equipment, relaxing environment, and it is extremely clean! Dr Kyriakopoulos is calm, good-humoured, makes you feel relaxed and optimistic, and has great patience (he always welcomed my questions, no matter how tired he was). To conclude, Dr Kyriakopoulos exceeds Greek medical standards! A huge THANK YOU to him for everything that he has done for me!! Maria K

I recently traveled from Canada to Athens to see Konstantinos for endometriosis excision surgery. Before making the decision to travel to GCEMI I researched a dozen surgeons around the world and had phone consultations with five. I had my surgery over a week ago, and could not be happier with my decision. There are many competent doctors out there, but few real gems. Konstantinos is one of them. He is an expert in endometriosis, but more importantly he truly cares and wants the best for his patients. He is reassuring, humble, easily accessible and has a good sense of humour. He took the time to explain everything to me, consider options, and answer all of my questions. He also went above and beyond by providing a number of great recommendations on what to eat, see and do in Greece during my stay. Overall, I would highly recommend Konstantinos to anyone considering traveling overseas for surgery (Greece is lucky to have him!). Thanks again Konstantinos for your flawless surgery, genuine care and great hospitality!

After unsuccessful surgery back in Serbia I was looking to find doctor who can help me with endometriosis. I researched and found out that the golden treatment for endometriosis is laparoscopic endometriosis excision surgery. I also found about Nancy Nook site and I found Dr Konstantinos Kyriakopoulos who is only Nook certified doctor in Grecce. He is not only Nook certified, he is also vetted on icarebetter site as he is endometriosis excision specialist. We got in touch very easily and perfectly arranged our meeting, consultation and MRI. After the results we decided to proceed with excision surgery. Doctor Konstantinos was my support from early on, he listened to me, he helped me decide, to understand and supported me on every step of the way. His knowledge is fantastic and I went with no worries in his operating room. Thank you Dino I would recommend you to every women I know as you are on of a kind. Now, I’am ready to get back to Serbia and hug my endometriosis free life.

I truly cannot recommend enough Dr Kyriakopoulos. Given the difficult, and complicated state I was in, I feel very lucky and happy that Dinos was my surgeon. There’s only a handful of endometriosis skilled surgeons around the world, and Dr Kyriakopoulos is one of the few (listed on both Nancy’s Nook and icarebetter). But it’s not only his credentials that make him a great surgeon! Dinos has empathy, a great sense of humor (it makes a difference when things get tough) and is kind. From the very beginning I had a thorough and honest evaluation of where I stand, what I may face, and he set up a plan. Dr Kyriakopoulos never tires of supporting, and answering questions – and I asked a lot of questions. He was (and is) always there. He explained everything. I felt listened to and respected. For me it was the first time ever to meet a doctor that cares about informed consent, and believes patients need to make informed decisions. Before the surgery he went through different scenarios of what we may come up against, and I was asked what I’d like him to do in each case. From start to finish, I was encouraged to advocate for myself. I felt safe knowing he’s in my corner at all times, always available. The day of the surgery he called, and also talked in person to my friends and family while I was recovering from anesthesia. The day after he visited me in the hospital, explained how the surgery went, and made sure I was recovering well. My chronic iron deficiency gave me post-op really unpleasant symptoms for several days that were stressing me out. Dinos was tirelessly at the other end of the line to listen to me, and assess the situation. Today it’s 10 days after my surgery, and I just had my follow up appointment. Once again, he made sure I am on the right track to recovery, gave more details of what went on and advice on how to proceed. I am so relieved everything went well and happy about the whole process, and this is thanks to Dinos. Dr Kyriakopoulos is a rare combination of impeccable skills, and warm demeanour.

I am extremely happy to have contacted and gotten help from Dr Konstantinos Kyriakopoulos. I am 21 years old and from Denmark, and have been struggling with endometriosis symptoms for the past 1,5 years. I couldn’t get the necessary examinations and treatment in Denmark and was met with medical gaslighting from different doctors in Denmark. That is why I chose to search internationally for a doctor that could help me, and found Dr Konstantinos. I immediately felt validated and understood by Dr Konstantinos, so I decided to come to Athens to get the proper treatment (excision surgery). The communication was great and he was (and still is) quick to respond and answer all of my questions. He was very kind and made me feel safe before the surgery by explaining everything that was going to happen. I was very calm and happy when I was taken to the surgery room because he had made the process comfortable. When I woke up, Dr Konstantinos told me that he found endometriosis multiple places in my abdomen and that he was able to remove all of the endometriosis. I was so relieved when he told me and so happy to have chosen him to help me. He followed up by visiting me after the surgery to ask how I was feeling, when I was in the hospital. It is only 4 days since the surgery and I can already feel a relieve in the bladder (where he removed endometriosis). I can really recommend Dr Konstantinos because he made me feel very safe about the whole process. I can feel that he truly cares about my well-being in a way I haven’t experienced before from other doctors. Because of the help and treatment I have gotten from Dr Konstantinos, I no longer have endometriosis in my body and can look forward to feeling free and healthy again. I will be forever thankful.

I had my diagnostic laparoscopy for endometriosis with Konstantinos last week in the Mediterraneo Hospital in Athens and I can truly say this was the best decision of my life. To set the scene, like many others who suffer from endometriosis, I’ve been met with medical gaslighting for years. Every ultrasound, CT and MRI scan I’ve ever had has come back ‘clear’ and so I’ve always been told there’s nothing wrong with me, despite describing my extreme pain and ending up in the emergency department of the local hospital. With this in mind, I was absolutely terrified to travel to meet with another doctor in case I was wrong. I’m from the UK and the thought of travelling for healthcare was very daunting, but I can honestly say it’s the best investment I’ve ever made for myself and I will be recommending this to all my fellow sufferers in this community. Konstantinos has changed my life. I did plenty of research on him beforehand and he exceeded my hopes and expectations. From our first telephone consultation I knew he was truly listening to me and he was certain I had endo instantly. I flew to Athens for our second consultation in person for a physical examination and this was further supported. I booked in my surgery following our at length discussions, however I do want to add that Konstantinos never once pushed me into a decision and always stressed that surgery was completely my choice depending on my quality of life. Leading upto the surgery, I was still terrified that I’d end up having nothing wrong with me, but Konstantinos reassured me that nerves were normal. We discussed all complications and situations in depth prior to the surgery. I can say hand on heart, that this man is an angel on earth. My surgery went as well as it possibly could and I have him to thank for this. I’m yet to monitor the change in my symptoms but I feel it’s so important for me to spread awareness that endometriosis doesn’t just materialise as cysts. I had endometriosis lesions excised from my left pelvic side wall, left pararectal space, right pelvic side wall, right pararectal space, pouch of douglas, vesico-uterine fold and bladder peritoneum. My sigmoid colon was also severely adherent to my pelvic side wall. I recommend Konstantinos to any endometriosis sufferer looking for the best care. He is now on the approved list of international surgeons on the endometriosis forum ‘Nancy’s Nook’ - this makes him the only approved surgeon in the whole of Greece and now people are travelling from across Europe and the world to seek him out and I’m now one of those patients. Konstantinos is an incredible man, no question is too small, he’s available whenever you need him, he’s warm and has the best sense of humour. I felt safe in his hands and my post surgery results prove this. I’ll never be able to thank him enough but I can continue to advocate for endometriosis sufferers and share his inspiring work. A true leader in this field, changing the level of care that we receive.

My only wish to all the women out there who are suffering from endometriosis is to be lucky enough to meet dr Konstantinos! After long 12 years of being convinced by unknown number of doctors that everything is fine with my body, that I simply have “painful periods” and I should get used to it, how everything will go after I give a birth, after so many days and nights spent in emergency I finally got in the right hands. Finally found a doctor who listened carefully what I have to say. Right after our first phone call I decided to travel from Serbia all the way here in Athens to meet him. Soon after that we decided I should have endometriosis excision surgery. Turns out I had an insane number of endometriosis lesions. Now I am still recovering from that and with his help and support 24/7 everything is so easy. I couldn’t have done it without you dr Konstantinos! The world needs more Dinos!

I travelled to Greece for endometriosis excision surgery from Canada. In Canada, just to get a consult with an endometriosis specialist in my province would have been 9-18 months, plus another year wait if the specialist would even agree to do surgery. That was just too long of a wait to be uncomfortable and no guarantee on the level of care. I started looking into international options. I was looking at doctors in Europe. Dr. Konstantinos Kyriakopoulos was very responsive from my first contact with him. He sent me a form to fill out with more information and I also sent him my mri scans and report. In about a week I had my Skype consult with him and he answered all my many questions. He is very personable, understanding and easy to talk to. Based on this Skype consult I booked my trip to Greece! The following day after my arrival to Greece I had an in-person appointment with Dr. K. He was so thorough in explaining everything he was doing in my exam, which I really appreciated. I’ve never felt so informed during any exam with other doctors. He then answered all of my questions, went over all risks, and allowed me time to decide what I wanted to do regarding consents. I very much felt that I was in good hands. My surgery was 3.5 hrs. Dr. K came to see me in my room after surgery and told me briefly about what he found. He was so kind and caring, but also funny! He was very responsive to any questions I had during my recovery, which I very much appreciated. He continued to check in on me during my recovery and answered any other questions that came up. I had a post-op appointment with him later that week to go over the findings in more detail. By day 4 post-op I felt more like myself again and was able to do a lot of walking. It’s amazing to not have things pulling on my insides causing me back pain. I always thought my back hurt because of a desk job, but not so! I am very happy to have had my surgery with Dr. K. He is knowledgeable and makes people feel at ease in his presence. Wonderful doctor!
