★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Paintings don't have to look like photographs. They should present any object, even the simplest one, on a specific and unique way. For example, if you lay on the ground under a tree, and look on it, you could make a painting that is showing leafs and branches. But you could also show a view on the sun through the treetop. In such a case you would have to close your eyes and watch through the eyelashes and see a mix of bright light and green colors. Imagine this picture. Would it look like usual image of a treetop? It would not. But still, this is also a treetop, just seen on some other way, from other perspective, with other idea. That's why the art should be surprising, exciting and even intriguing, not just a simple repeater of usual views.
However, turists are buying stupid stuff :-(
