About Greek Island Yacht Holiday

Greece is said to be taking its first step next week in re-opening for tourism, almost one month ahead of schedule.

According to reports, as of Monday, April 19, travelers from all EU member states, the United States, the United Kingdom, Serbia, Israel, and the United Arab Emirates will be able to enter Greece without having to undergo mandatory quarantine after arrival only if they have proof of vaccination or present a negative PCR test performed less than three days prior to their trip.

It is reminded that Greece has already lifted the quarantine measure for passengers from Israel.

Citing a government official, Reuters news agency said that the only airports open to travelers from those countries will be those located in Athens and Thessaloniki, as well as on the islands of Crete (Heraklion and Chania), Rhodes, Kos, Mykonos, Santorini, and Corfu.

Under current rules, which expire on April 19, all international passengers arriving in Greece must have a negative PCR test with them and must undergo a mandatory quarantine for seven days.

Serbian Ambassador confirms opening for Serbs. Speaking to the Tanjug news agency on Thursday, Serbian Ambassador to Athens Dušan Spasojević confirmed that Serbian nationals will be able to travel to Greece from April 19 by air or by road from the northern land border crossings of Promahonas and Nymfeas.

Spasojević clarified that travelers should have either a vaccination certificate issued by an official Serbian authority or a negative PCR test less than three days old. He added that all Serbian travelers must also submit the Passenger Locator Form (PLF) 24 hours before their trip to Greece.

Lockdown restrictions are still in place in Greece, so visitors will be obliged to follow all rules as Greek citizens do.

Restaurants and cafes still remain closed, travel between prefectures is banned and a night curfew is still in place. Archaeological sites in Greece have re-opened.

We had an unforgettable summer with Walter on his Argos in 2009, sailing from Athens to several islands upto Santorini. Walter not only helped us to improve our sailing skills and knowledge, but took care to bring us to magic places with different flavours - small bays for swimming in a aquamarine water, the most tasteful local restaurants that are hidden from the eyes of the normal tourist, star watching from the boat, etc. His tips, recommendations and guidelines, made our holidays such a wonderful experience. Also the high hygiene and safety standards on the boat corresponded even to the most demanding passengers. Super experience!

My wife and I spent a fabulous 2 weeks with Captain Walter on board the “Argo” exploring the Cyclades Islands. It was the proverbial trip of a lifetime every stop seemed to be more beautiful than the last and every morning I felt like I was waking up in a picture postcard. Walter’s many years of sailing experience in the area made him the perfect travel advisor giving us valuable advice on where to go and what to see when we were in port as well as helping us navigate the various Greek specialties on the menus of the local “Taverna’s As a non sailor non boater of any type I was a little nervous about being on a sail boat for two weeks never mind concerns about motion sickness but after a few days watching Walter in action I could see he was a very safe and experienced sailor, in addition after 2 or 3 days of sailing I was happy to find my sea legs and didn’t require any anti nausea medication whatsoever! In conclusion I highly recommend Captain Walter and Greek Island Yacht Holiday you will not be disappointed ???

Before my wife and I even arrived to bareboat charter ‘Argo’ for two weeks in September '18, Walter had provided us with exceptional communication and service that was a step above any regular company. When we eventually arrived to the immaculately prepared and meticulously maintained 'Argo' we immediately knew he was true to his word, and the boat was exactly as described. Cruising the Cyclades aboard ‘Argo’ was effortless and stress-free knowing the highest level of care and attention had gone into the boat – it felt like our own yacht, not a charter boat with thousands of miles under her keel! We found Walter to be highly professional, knowledgeable and extremely helpful, and his local knowledge and advice aided us to have a wonderful two weeks on board. Thank you again Walter, and we hope to see you again for our next Greek Islands adventure!!

Greece has always been on the top of our vacation destination list, but we weren’t sure about the best way to see it. As part of our 10-day trip, we decided to book a week on a sailboat touring the Greek Isles. Since we’d never done something like this before, we did some research online and found Greek Island Yacht Holiday. They had the top reviews and up to date information on different boats and places you could visit. We were able to make contact with Walter Kruk by email and he helped us plan the vacation of a lifetime. Walter was very responsive and super easy to work with, as we had many questions about logistics, our itinerary, accommodations, and costs. Because of Walter’s assistance before the trip, we were very comfortable about what to expect, knowing that he had attended to every detail. The best part was that Walter and his wife Alexandra were also our Captain and First Mate for the trip! They were an incredible team, so kind and personable, making sure we were always informed, comfortable, and having a good time! Our trip was aboard a very new, spacious Fontaine Pajot 45’ Elba Sailboat. This Catamaran was amazing, and just the right sailboat for our adventures in the Cyclades islands. It was very stable, which was important to my wife. We sailed with one other couple (our best friends) and Walter and Alexandra, and had more than enough space, as there were four cabins on the boat, each with their own bathroom/shower and closets. We could have easily accommodated another two people and had room to spare. Although one cannot control the weather, we had exceptionally nice conditions for mid-September, with day time highs in the low 80s and high 70s F, and nights comfortable in the low 60s. Although the boat had air conditioning, we never felt the need to use it as the breezes kept things so comfortable. We relied heavily on Walter and Alexandra for everything, and they did not disappoint! Walter crafted an itinerary that included visiting beautiful beaches, secluded coves, charming towns and villages, as well as stunning caves and cliffs. Each day was a new adventure, but always started with amazing coffee and a delicious breakfast courtesy of Alexandra. Then, maybe after a morning swim, we would set sail for a new port or bay where we would either anchor out and take the dinghy to the beach, or pull into port. The afternoons were spent exploring/hiking through charming towns, shopping, swimming, stand-up paddle boarding, or taking a nap! In the evening we would either be treated to cocktails and an amazing dinner by Alexandra on the boat, or go ashore to a restaurant/bar that Walter or Alexandra recommended. Not having to worry or plan each day was so great…and not having to cook or even stress about WHERE to eat was worth EVERY EURO! Each and very day we were delighted with the new places Walter sail to. They made everything so effortless for us; we just never had to stress about logistics the entire trip. Our days and nights exploring the islands of Sifnos, Serifos, Milos, and Kithnos were truly magical. We can’t say enough about how outstanding our crew was and how hard they worked to make this the vacation of a lifetime. If you have an interest in seeing the Greek Isles, we would HIGHLY recommend booking with Greek Island Yacht Holiday! They were the BEST!

Unmatched Ionian Islands Sailing Adventure!! I recently traveled to Greece with a group of friends to go on a chartered sailing adventure and it surpassed any and all expectations. It's not hard to fall in love with all the beauty Greece has to offer, but a great sailing vacation (even in Greece) can be dampened by a less than stellar boat charter or skipper. I was beyond thrilled that my experience with Greek Island Yacht Holiday, by far, made for the best vacation of my life! The captain, Walter, was an expert in sailing and knew all the good places to explore, both on sea and land. Most importantly, he took the time to understand what we wanted out of our vacation and helped develop an agenda that, combined with his local knowledge, maximized our time there. And we made changes along the way depending upon what we felt like doing or seeing, which wasn't a problem at all. He emphasized it was our vacation and he made everything happen. Walter was the perfect guide – super friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. We mixed great sailing with docking at villages that provided us with local culture and we even rented a car one day to go further inland to see some sights on our list. When we wanted a break from the docks, we anchored, made dinner on board and enjoyed the quiet. I didn't sleep inside the entire week. I slept on deck so I could look at the clear skies and brilliant stars. I can't recommend Walter and his company highly enough and can't wait to go back next year!!
