About HEMOGLOBE HELLAS O.E.

What is Continuous Glucose Measurement System (CGM), and how it functions.

The technology around Diabetes tries to mimic the function of the human body in controlling glucose levels. The human brain measures glucose levels every 3 minutes and, according to the measurement, instructs the pancreas to give small amounts of fast-acting insulin.

Continuous Glucose Monitoring System is placed subcutaneously, measures the blood sugar level every three minutes and continuously transmits not only the glucose value, but also its trend, to a receiver or to our smartphone via Bluetooth.

It consists of 3 parts:

A sensor, with an electrode placed subcutaneously that measures the glucose fluctuations in the intercellular fluid. It is disposable and changes every 7, 10 or 14 days according to the technical specifications.

A transmitter, which is embedded on the sensor, receives the measurements and transmits them to the receiver.

A receiver or a smartphone application, which receives the measurement from the transmitter and demonstrates the value and the glucose trend on the screen.

Why to use a CGM

  • See the big picture

With CGM you always know your glucose levels just by glancing at your compatible smart device or receiver. Knowing your glucose numbers and trends can help you make better diabetes treatment decisions and may help avoid highs and lows.

  • Less Finger Sticks

Using a CGM means that you can have a better picture of your glucose levels, measurements every 3 minutes, with much less fingersticks.

  • Better Diabetes Management

Unlike a blood glucose meter (BGM), which provides just a single glucose reading, CGM systems can provide real-time, dynamic glucose information every 3 minutes – up to 480 readings in a 24-hour period. You can gain valuable insight about your glucose levels like rate and direction of glucose change. So you can have additional insight to proactively manage your diabetes, achieve better clinical results such as HbA1c reduce and increase the time in range.

Give your HCP access to the complete picture, receiving your real time datas with statistic reports and glucose graphs, so that he/she can always take the best treatment decisions for your diabetes.

  • Feel Safe Day and Night

Set your upper and lower limits to your CGM, and the safety alarms will warn you when your blood glucose reaches those limits, so you can act proactively, making the right treatment decisions.

So you can always be protected from hyper and hypos!
