Fantastic museum! Very well laid out and many great pieces on display. I recommend going to Knossos in the morning before the crowds start and heat rises then come here after lunch in Heraklion.

Great archeological treasures in chronological order, and rich descriptions of the significance of the different display sections. Very well orchestrated. We went in the off season and there were some closed off sections on the second floor, but the entrance fee was lowered accordingly, only €6 per adult. Not very heavily trafficked in off season. If you're a caption reader and like to take in all the details, you could easily spend 3 hours here. If you breeze through, you could do it in an hour. There were no interactive or immersive style exhibits at the time of writing of this review. Overall, highly recommend if you're in Heraklion. Cafe, restrooms, gift shop on site.

Didn't get yo go inside the museum but the outside archeological site was amazing! The original site of the Olympics every four years from four centuries BC to two centuries AD and the rise of Christianity. Contestants (men only) competed in the nude. Many temples for the Greek Gods, ceremonial buildings (ruins) and the original field for competition.

Very well set up, all the information available in English. It has a good organization through the time. They included quite interesting details, the ligth is well set up so most of the time you could take nice pictures. The rooms are plenty of space, so you can enjoy the visit even in crowded moments.

What an incredible museum experience! Highly recommend! One of the best museums I've been to in a very long time. Exhibits were impeccably curated, with wonderful English translations. The layout encourages you to experience history in the timeline it happened while providing delightful descriptions. The lighting of the exhibits was also brilliant and allowed you to take glare-free photos of your favorite artifacts.

For history and archeology geeks, it’s a must visit place, obviously ? Tons of pottery, jewelry, weapons, sculptures… The exhibit covered several thousands of years from Neolithic period all the way to Venetian artifacts. The ticket is 12 euros, definitely worth a while. You will be there for about two hours. Bring water with you ? and when you are done check out one of many restaurants around the museum. We have been to the place called “corner” next to Venetian Loggia.

Absolutely loved going here ❤️. Why I haven't been here all these years, I'll never know (oh yes, covid came and we had lock downs). On a happier note, I took loads of pictures, it was all so fascinating. I think if anyone plans to go to Knossos Palace, it is a good idea to come here first. I wish I had, as my visit to Knossos Palace would have made way more sense, and I could have placed the objects I saw at the museum, that Knossos.

Great museum and very beautiful items and displays. The only part I didn't like was that I paid full price for a ticket and the Greek/roman statue section was closed and I wasn't told when purchasing which I feel warrants a cheaper price. Takes a while to get around also and if you want to visit the place the artifacts are from (mostly Knossos palace) you can buy the dual ticket and get the number 2 bus. Well worth a trip to both.
