Τα νερά της τεχνητής λίμνης είναι εντυπωσιακά και σε συνδυασμό με το βραχώδες μέρος θυμίζουν φυσικές ομορφιές νησιών του Ιονίου. Αξίζει να επισκεφθείτε το μέρος και να ανεβείτε στον δρόμο για το εκκλησάκι, πάνω από τον δρομο του φράγματος, για να θαυμάσετε την έκταση της λίμνης και τα πλούσια χρώματα. Επιπλέον από την κάτω μεριά του φράγματος θα έχετε την δυνατότητα να δείτε την κατάληξη των νερών του φράγματος που σε συνδυασμό με την βλάστηση της περιοχής σχηματίζει ένα υπέροχο τοπίο που θυμίζει λίμνη με διάσπαρτα νησάκια.
Incredible oasis of lake and natural landscape in a secluded part of Kozani. The waters of the artificial lake are impressive and in combination with the rocky part they remind of the natural beauties of the Ionian islands. It is worth visiting the place and going up the road to the church, above the road of the dam, to admire the area of the lake and the rich colors. In addition, from the bottom of the dam you will be able to see the end of the dam which in combination with the vegetation of the area forms a wonderful landscape reminiscent of a lake with scattered islands.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hilarion Dam (known also as Ilarionas dam) is located 30 km south to Kozani. It is the fourth dam and the largest one, among total four dams along Haliacmon river.
The three other dams are: Polyfytos (112 m), Sfikia (82 m), and Asomaton (52 m).
Hilarion dam is the newest of the four. It was completed at 2012 and it was made for the purpose of power generation, Irrigation and water supply for Thessaloniki.
It has a height of 130m (the fifth tallest in Greece) and a lenght of 540 m and it has a power generation capability of 157 MW.
The dam led to the creation of Lake Hilarion, a long serpentine snake-like fjord, 35 km long, with countless bays.
If you pass in this amazingly beautiful landscape, don't miss the remarkable Monastery Zavorda (on the north bank of the lake, 12 km south of the dam and 3 km west to Elati).
