If I'm not mistaken, the only temple in Greece. Very picturesque temple and great spot.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Στα μεταβυζαντινά χρόνια ανεγέρθηκε στα ερείπια της παλαιοχριστιανικής βασιλικής το εκκλησάκι του Αγίου Ζαχαρία, όπου έγινε πάλι εκτενής χρήση σπασμένων αρχαίων μαρμάρων (δεξιά του ψηφιδωτού με τον προφήτη Ζαχαρία πάνω από την κεντρική είσοδο σώζεται η επιγραφή της Νικοστράτης, η οποία είχε μυηθεί στα Μυστήρια). Ο Ζαχαρίας ήταν ιερέας στα Ιεροσόλυμα και πατέρας του Ιωάννη του Βαπτιστή. Στην Ελευσίνα όμως θεωρείται επιπλέον και προστάτης των αρτοποιών. Είναι μία μόνο από τις πολλές διασυνδέσεις με την αρχαία θρησκεία που επιβίωσαν στη βιογραφία και τη λατρεία του συγκεκριμένου αγίου. Είναι εντυπωσιακό πως ο επίσκοπος Νικαίας Θεοφάνης ο Γραπτός αποκαλεί τον Ζαχαρία ιεροφάντωρα, θεοφάντωρα και ιερομύστη, τίτλοι που θυμίζουν έντονα το λεξιλόγιο και τους τίτλους των ιερέων της Δήμητρας. Η φορητή εικόνα του αγίου χρονολογείται στα 1912 ενώ η μνήμη του τιμάται με ευλάβεια στις 5 Σεπτεμβρίου.
In the post-Byzantine years, the church of Agios Zacharias was erected in the ruins of the early Christian basilica, where broken ancient marbles were again used extensively (to the right of the mosaic with the prophet Zacharias above the main entrance, the inscription of Nikostratis is preserved. Zacharias was a priest in Jerusalem and the father of John the Baptist. In Elefsina, however, he is also considered the patron saint of bakers. It is just one of the many connections with the ancient religion that have survived in the biography and worship of this particular saint. It is impressive that the bishop of Nicaea, Theophanes the Writer, calls Zacharias a hierophant, a theophantor and a priest, titles that are strongly reminiscent of the vocabulary and the titles of the priests of Demeter. The portable icon of the saint dates back to 1912 while his memory is reverently honored on September 5.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Απο τους λίγους ναούς στην Ελλάδα και ο μόνος στον νόμο Αττικής μάλλον που είναι αφιερωμένος στον Προφήτη Ζαχαρία. Τον πατέρα του Αγίου Ιωάννου. Ζαχαρίας στα εβραϊκά σημαίνει αυτός που τον θυμάται ο Θεός. Βοήθεια μας οι Ζαχαρίες!
