Μέ τήν δημιουργία τοῦ Νέου τότε Ἀερολιμένα Ἀθηνῶν, ὁ Ναός τῆς Ἁγίας Τριάδος περιῆλθε ἀπό τό 1960 στή δικαιοδοσία τῆς Ὑπηρεσίας Πολιτικής Ἀεροπορίας, διότι ὁ Ναός εὑρίσκετο ἐντός τῆς ἀναγκαστικῆς ἀπαλλοτριωθείσης ἐκτάσεως τοῦ Ἀεροδρομίου. Ἐφ᾽ ὄσον διαρκοῦσαν οἱ ἐργασίες κατασκευῆς, ἡ λειτουργία τοῦ Ἱεροῦ Ναοῦ εἶχε σταματήσει διότι ὑπῆρχε περίφραξη τοῦ ὅλου χώρου. Ὅταν λειτούργησε ὁ Ἀεροσταθμός, τότε ξανάρχισε ἡ λειτουργία τοῦ Ναοῦ ὡς παρεκκλήσιον τῆς Ἐνορίας Μεταμορφώσεως τοῦ Σωτῆρος Σουρμένων. Μετά από διαβήματα τῶν κατοίκων στήν Ἱερά Ἀρχιεπισκοπή Ἀθηνῶν, διότι ἐκεῖ ἀνῆκε ἀρχικά πρό τῆς ἱδρύσεως τῆς Ἱερᾶς Μητροπόλεως Νέας Σμύρνης, ὁ Ἱερός Ναός τῆς Ἁγίας Τριάδος ἔγινε ἐνοριακός στήν περιοχή Ἑλληνικοῦ ἀπό τό ἔτος 1970 καί ἔκτοτε λειτουργεῖ κανονικά ὡς Ἐνοριακός Ναός.
