★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ο ναός της Κοίμησης Της Θεοτόκου είναι ο μεγαλύτερος ναός της πόλης των Ιωαννίνων. Κάποτε ήταν μοναστήρι και η ίδρυση του ανάγεται στην εποχή του Δεσποτάτου της Ηπείρου. Την περίοδο 1820-1822 ήταν η έδρα της μητρόπολης Ιωαννίνων. Μετά το 1832 ο μητροπολίτης Ιωαννίνων επέστρεψε στην έδρα του τον Άγιο Αθανάσιο. Το 1858 ανεγέρθηκε εκ βάθρων. Ο περίβολος της αποτελούσε το επισημότερο νεκροταφείο της πόλεως. Εδώ είναι ο τάφος του πρώτου Ηπειρώτη και μεγάλου Γιαννιώτη ιστοριοδίφη Παναγιώτη Αραβαντινού (1807-1870) και του γυμνασιάρχη της Ζωσιμαίας Σχολής Σπύρου Μανάρη (1805- 1886).
The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is the largest church in the city of Ioannina. It was once a monastery and its foundation dates back to the time of the Despotate of Epirus. In the period 1820-1822 it was the seat of the metropolis of Ioannina. After 1832, the Metropolitan of Ioannina returned to his hometown of Agios Athanasios. In 1858 it was built from the ground up. Its precinct was the most official cemetery in the city. Here is the tomb of the first Epirus and great Giannioti historian Panagiotis Aravantinou (1807-1870) and the headmaster of the Zosima School Spyros Manaris (1805-1886).
