M	Manolis Akoumianakis on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Μια από τις ωραιότερες εκκλησίες της ευρύτερης περιοχής, δίπλα από μια όμορφη μικρή πλατεία, είναι ο ιερός ναός της Κοιμήσεως της Θεοτόκου, στην Ξυλοκέριζα. Το όνομα «Ξυλοκέριζα» σύμφωνα με το ιστορικό της ιεράς εικόνος Κοιμήσεως της Θεοτόκου που υπάρχει σήμερα μέσα στον Ενοριακό Ιερό Ναό, και που βρέθηκε από τους πρώτους κατοίκους του χωριού στην κουφάλα της τεράστιας σε διαστάσεις, ύψους και πλάτους ξυλοκερατιάς. Οι λιγοστοί τότε κάτοικοι, έφτιαξαν σύμφωνα με τις δυνάμεις τους μικρό Ιερό Ναό, εκεί στην καμένη πια ξυλοκερατιά και έβαλαν την εικόνα μέσα. Αργότερα έφτιαξαν μεγαλύτερο Ναό πέτρινο, ο οποίος θεμελιώθηκε το έτος 1972 υπό του Μακαριστού Μητροπολίτου Κορίνθου Παντελεήμονος Καρανικόλα. Εγκαινιάσθηκε πέντε χρόνια μετά, την 27ην Νοεμβρίου 1977 υπό του ιδίου Μητροπολίτου. Ο όμορφος αυτός ναός είναι κτισμένος σε σταυροειδή ρυθμό με τρούλο, είναι πολύ άνετος και ωραίος εσωτερικά, αγιογραφημένος και με όμορφο ξυλόγλυπτο τέμπλο. Εορτάζεται δε μεγαλοπρεπώς στις δεκαπέντε Αυγούστου. One of the most beautiful churches in the area, next to a beautiful small square, is the church of the Assumption of the Virgin, in Xylokeriza.
