M	Manolis Akoumianakis on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ανάμεσα στις εκκλησίες του Θραψανού, ιδιαίτερα ξεχωριστός για το μέγεθός του κυρίως, είναι ο καθεδρικός ναός του Τιμίου Σταυρού ή Σταυρωμένος. Πρόκειται για μεγάλο δίκλιτο ναό που ανήκει στον αρχιτεκτονικό τύπο της βασιλικής και η οικοδόμησή του χρονολογείται στις αρχές του 20ού αιώνα, πιθανόν το 1905, ενώ για την ανέγερσή του χρειάστηκαν 10 χρόνια. Το σημερινό καμπαναριό της εκκλησίας, αποτελεί σύγχρονη προσθήκη και κτίστηκε με τη συνδρομή των κατοίκων, στη θέση παλαιότερου, που σύμφωνα με μαρτυρίες, καταστράφηκε εξαιτίας μιας σεισμικής δόνησης. Στο εσωτερικό του ναού, αξίζει κανείς να παρατηρήσει τον εικονογραφικό διάκοσμο του τέμπλου, ο οποίος περιλαμβάνει εικόνες Αγίων και σκηνές από την Αγία Γραφή, με τα πρόσωπα να έχουν αποδοθεί σε φυσικό μέγεθος. Οι αγιογραφίες αυτές φιλοτεχνήθηκαν στο Άγιο Όρος το 1916 από διακεκριμένους αγιογράφους. Ακόμα, αναφορικά με τη χρήση του κτιρίου, εντύπωση κάνει το γεγονός ότι εκτός από τόπος λατρείας, ο ναός λειτούργησε και ως νοσοκομείο την περίοδο του δευτέρου παγκοσμίου πολέμου.
