A monument of Arta which has been abandoned to its fate.

The Faik Pasha Mosque, also known as Imaret, is a monument of the Ottoman period in the Marati area, very close to the city of Arta. It is located in Marati, near the village of Grammenitsa and a short distance from the settlements of Marathovouni and Eleousa, next to the banks of the river Arachthos and is about 3 km from the historic bridge of Arta.

Only ruins and locked door .. unfortunately it has not been utilized. Lots of rubbish and to get through you have to go through grass.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Faik Pasha Mosque, also known as Imaret, is an Ottoman-era monument in the Marati area, very close to the city of Arta.
The mosque, like most mosques in Greece and the Balkans, belongs to type A. It consists of a simple one-room prayer room with a dome, square floor and side, dimensions 11.50 m. At the entrance of the mosque there is a colonnaded portico . On the north side of the mosque, on a square base, rises a cylindrical minaret.
It is located in Marati, near the village of Grammenitsa and a short distance from the settlements of Marathovouni and Eleousa, next to the banks of the river Arachthos and is about 3 km from the historic bridge of Arta.
In the past, the area around the mosque was called Top - Alti.
This word described the whole area that was within the firing range of the weapons that had been placed in the castle of Arta.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A 15th century ottoman mosque, known as Faik Pasha Camii, is truly abandoned by the Greek state, which strangely enough, consider it as a protected cultural heritage of Greece, for many decades now. Unfortunately as it is evident by the photographs and the other visitors' views, the monument is left for dead. Many historians and friends of the monument are trying for years to save it. The visitor should go and see it before it goes down, like the many other buildings that used to accompany the mosque.
