Και αυτό όμως το κληροδότημα το τακτοποίησε ενώ ακόμη ζούσε, γιατί το Δεκέμβριο του 1879 και τον Απρίλιο του 1880 επέτυχε να εγγράψει στο δημόσιο χρέος της Γαλλίας υπέρ των ευαγών καταστημάτων της Θεσσαλονίκης ετήσιο εισόδημα 12.000 φράγκων. Επιπλέον στη δεύτερη διαθήκη εκφράζει τη στοργή του προς τη Θεσσαλονίκη με την επιθυμία ιδρύσεως ασύλου, το οποίο θα ονομαζόταν "Γηροκομείο Μελίτη". Σ' αυτό θα κατέφευγαν προς συντήρηση τελείως γέροντες και των δυο φύλων, πτωχοί ή ανίκανοι για εργασία ανήκοντες στην Ελληνική Ορθόδοξη Εκκλησία. Για την ίδρυση του Γηροκομείου του προσδιόριζε τα τοκομερίδια εισοδήματος 4.000 φράγκων που είχε εγγράψει σε χρεώγραφα γαλλικού δημοσίου εκτός των προαναφερθέντων 12.000 φράγκων. Επί πλέον έδινε εντολή στους εκτελεστές της διαθήκης του, ό,τι θα έμενε από τις πληρωμές και υποχρεώσεις κατά την εκκαθάριση της περιουσίας του να το χρησιμοποιούσαν για πρόσθετη εγγραφή σε γαλλικά χρεώγραφα, των οποίων το εισόδημα θα προοριζόταν και πάλι υπέρ των ιδρυμάτων της Θεσσαλονίκης. Οι έφοροι του μιλούσαν για τις οικονομικές δυσχέρειες εξαιτίας των οποίων κινδύνευε η λειτουργία των Εκπαιδευτηρίων και κατ' επέκταση η ολεθρίως επαπειλουμένη προγονική γλώσσα. Περί των "αριπρεπών καί φωτιστικών" κέντρων όλης της πολυπαθούς Μακεδονίας του έγραφε και ο Θεσσαλονίκης Καλλίνικος. Όλοι δηλαδή του υποδείκνυαν τα Σχολεία ως τον αξιολογότατο χώρο πού έπρεπε να αρδεύει το πλήρωμα της αγάπης του. Και όντως έλαβε σοβαρά υπόψη του τις υποδείξεις και προτροπές. Με επιστολή του που την απηύθυνε στις 10 Οκτωβρίου 1884 ΄΄προς τον αξιότιμον κύριον Πρόεδρον και τους κυρίους Αντιπροσώπους της Ελληνικής Ορθοδόξου Κοινότητος "Θεσσαλονίκης. Εξέφραζε "την εγκάρδιον ευχαρίστησίν" του για τις διαβεβαιώσεις που του παρείχαν γύρω από τις "ευνοϊκές" συνθήκες ιδρύσεως ορφανοτροφείου, γιατί έτσι πλέον του δινόταν η ευκαιρία να υλοποιήσει ό,τι ποθούσε η καρδιά του. Εξουσιοδοτούσε τελικά τους γενικούς κληρονόμους του ό,τι είχε προορίσει για την ίδρυση γηροκομείου να το διαθέσουν για "την κατάρτισιν ορφανοτροφείου διαρκούς''.
