Beautiful Ionian island with fantastic beaches. Those to the west of the island are difficult to reach narrow two-way streets with sharp curves like Megali Petra; others with challenging walking routes such as Milos Beach, as they are beaches with overhanging hills. The beaches of the north and east coast easy to reach and just as beautiful even if with a different charm. The north beach Agios Ioannis in the afternoon is populated by windsurfers and kitesurfers. The main city that takes its name from the island characterized in its historic center by low houses of two to three floors with the covering of colored corrugated metal sheets. On the seafront there is the marina where many sailboats are moored and on the opposite side there are tourist places where to eat and drink but better look in other places as they are too touristy. With a week's vacation and a rented car, the island has turned around in its entirety. I recommend a trip to Nydri waterfalls but in summer you will not find water. In the height of the summer season the temperature reaches 40 degrees ... A visit to the castle of Santa Maura at the gates of the city (at the beginning of the long bridge that connects the island to the mainland) is feasible but do not expect much, it is poorly maintained and lacking of descriptions, there are works in progress and hopefully improvements. I recommend a vacation on this wonderful island
