It's hard to find the place. Neglected and rope.

In this area there was the 1953 earthquake of the Central Jewish Synagogue of Zakynthos. In a small inscription, to the right of the entrance, we read: "The Jews of Zakynthos will remember that here, Ogos Foskolos, at the age of nine years, owed the unconciliation."
The only Jewish community that was entirely saved by the Nazi atrocities was the community of Zakynthos!

The Zakynthians did the good for the Jews on the island against the decision of the German conquerors. Heroically, the Metropolitan and the mayor then put their names on the list they asked for.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a place of honour for Zakynthos and it should be better preserved and easier to find. It is all about the courage of the mayor Loukas Karrer and archbishop Chrisostomos Dimitriou of Zakynthos, who were brave enough to refuse to name the jewish inhabitants for the Nazi occupiers in WWII. In fact they gave only two names to the Nazis. Their own!
