★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Πήγαμε την Παρασκευή 4 Μαρτίου με παλιόκαιρο και με το σύννεφο να κρύβει το απέναντι βουναλάκι. Φάγαμε εξαιρετικά τυροπιτάκια (αφρός), ξεραμένα κουκιά, ντολμαδάκια τυλιγμένα στο χέρι, χόρτα μαζεμένα από την κα. Γεωργία και κοκκινιστή γίδα ημέρας (τρυφερή και γευστική). Η ταμπέλα 'ιατρείο' έχει κατέβει από το εσωτερικο, αλλά επιτελεί ξεκάθαρα τέτοια λειτουργία για τους κατοίκους του χωριού. Πηγαίντε γιατί θέλουν στήριξη τέτοιες προσπάθειες.
We went on Friday, March 4, with old weather and the cloud hiding the opposite hill. We ate excellent cheese pies (foam), dried beans, dolmadas wrapped by hand, greens picked by Mrs. Agriculture and reddish goat of the day (tender and tasty). The sign 'doctor's office' has come down from the inside, but it clearly performs such a function for the inhabitants of the village. Go because they want support for such efforts.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing food with lovely service. If you ever tried meze, you will be in heaven, because you can choose what you gonna eat. They've got a small (but not really small ;) ) portions of various meats and veggies, and every portion cost around 3-5 euro. Definitely worth to visit it instead of more "touristic" places. You just have to stop here :) and remember to take some food for cats :)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 'Petres' kafenion in Saktouria: the newest hub and meeting spot on your way to or from the famous beaches of the area, Agios Pavlos, Triopetra etc.
Whether it's coffee or traditional sweets (glika tou koutaliou ) or cretan dishes (mezedes) you are looking for, then search no more. Georgia and Nicos - the hosts - not only will welcome you with their warmth but will also serve you the most amazing variety of mezedes you could have imagined. You see, nothing prepares you for the culinary experience you are about to savour ; and all prepared with organically grown local products, not to mention 'meraki' ( love and care ).
And if you've stopped off on your way back from the beach, you might just be that extra lucky and fall upon a night of cretan music with 'lyres , mandolina or laouta' - all traditional musical instruments of the island.
Whatever time of day, 'Petres' is the experience not to be missed.. The warmth of the hosts, the spectacular views of the sunset, the authenticity of the food and hospitality ,all promise to make your stop off an experience not to be forgotten.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the best restaurants in Crete yet. Everybody saying small portions but I never ever had bigger steak for 4e. Ver cheap, very tasty. If you go around, you can't miss this experience. And a lot of cats ? I love it here
